Call it whatever you want Nissan, but it's caught your attention and now you're making a competitor. Good, now less Cube, Juke and Murano convertible, more affordable sports cars

On another note I am very excited for the arms race of Japanese sports cars to unfold just as it did in the 90's resulting in the production of my all time favorite cars. I'm just fortunate that my favorite manufacture provided something already and I have no intention of "swaying" away from it.

Easy, it's called buyer's remorse.

I am 55, for $25K it is the car I was waiting for. I informed my wife we were off to Scion to buy a new car today. She just said, "What!!!!!". Off we are to the dealer. We get there, waiting for the internet sale guy. I the show room there are no FR-s. My wife spots a 2012 Tc. She states we should that one. I said, negative. We are getting the FR-s. Just then they are rolling in a Raven FR-s into the show room. I just smile and show her the car. Now she says , "Wow!!!!". Next she states , "It will cost a lot".
I say $25K. The sales guy gets there and we test drive a Whiteout. We come back and tell the guy, lets do the paperwork and am out the door two hours later. We hit the road toward home the first light this older guy stops next to me and gives me the nice car. Wife just smiles. 55 years old, I smile everyday.( Only thing is that I drive out the dealership with car fully paid.)

I hope there's enough room on the couch b/c Honda got that red light on the twins too. My prayers seemed to have been somewhat answered in my plea for a RWD Honda coupe.

I'm gonna say this now, when this new Honda comes it, it's gonna blow the doors off the FR-S and BRZ.

http://jalopnik.com/the-honda-s660-c...for-1450641533

Interestingly, the S660 is actually part of a bigger picture for Honda — a picture we are hearing involves three mid-engined sports cars and a reference to the “third brother” of a mid-engined trio that Honda bosses are currently evaluating.

That new coupe, says one Honda engineer, could be similar in size and price to the Toyota 86. That’s good news because without the S2000, Honda certainly needs a compact sports car to slot in between the new NSX and the S660.

LOL, did you even read the whole article you linked to:

Now comes the part that may disappoint the hardcore enthusiasts: the specs. Australia's Motoring reports the car uses a turbocharged 660cc petrol engine putting out just 67 horsepower, which is delivered to the rear wheels through a continuously variable transmission. However, with a weight under 1,900 pounds, it should be pretty sprightly
Yeah... I don't think the twins need to worry

67hp and a CVT??? Pass...

67 bhp
1,900 lbs.
CVT

The idea is neat but if it arrives in America with those specs I'll be impressed, even FIAT couldn't help the Abarth and Alfa 4C gaining weight to meet our safety specs.

1900/67= 28.4 lbs/hp (Hypothetical Honda S660)
2800/200 = 14 lbs/hp (FRS)
*Note: Smaller numbers are better here

It ain't gonna blow the doors off anything. At best it'll be an upgrade to the current CRZ. Even if they manage to DOUBLE the horsepower available it'll be (on paper) slower than an FRS in anything but an AutoX that doesn't allow you out of first gear. Although I wonder how a CVT handles autoX duty now that I mention it...

Edit: Oh wait you posted the article to point to a third rumoured car in between the s660 and NSX my bad. I'll leave my post as is though as a monument to my lack of reading comprehension.

That thing looks like a crz wanting to be an s2000...

Also, I'm hoping this part is a cruel joke of some sorts:

I wouldn't be opposed to another sporty Honda, but they have to do it right. Especially with the FR-S/BRZ out on the market now.
Coming from a Honda guy, I've been very disappointed by Honda as of late.

I've never been a fan of honda, and probably never will. However, I can tell you that I can appreciate any fine sports car made by any brand, and would be willing to purchase another car similar to the twins, whether it is a nissan, honda, chevrolet, ford etc.

I will not be getting rid of the twin, unless I am physically forced to though.

As much as Honda fans hope for a nice new affordable Honda sports car like the S2000, it looks like it will never happen. There doesn't seem to be anyone at Honda willing to make something that will truly please the sports car enthusiasts.

The only Japanese companies that still seem willing to compete in that arena are Nissan and Mazda. Heck, it sounds like even Toyota might make some more affordable sports cars like an MR2/S and Supra successor. But it's doubtful that Honda will ever get their heads out of their you know whats. And unfortunately it looks like my beloved Mitsubishi may be done with performance cars too.

Well, I don't think they named the concept S660 by accident... 660cc engine.

Fools, I wasn't talking about this small RWD car, I was talking about the middle one. I even cut n pasted the quote too.
