Push Button Start

So i wanted some honest opinions, but regardless i think i'm going to go this route. Below are some sketchup pictures of my design as well.

Instead of redoing the whole dash to do a push button start im going to use that annoying blank placard in the center console. Probably a small (height) but wide (diameter) spring to keep the button up with a pin that goes through a small hole (in the placard) to do the actual "work."

I haven't gotten all the things worked out in my head but i think its on its way.

Look at the "Jive's Breeze" thread, FT86Club member 'Jive Turkey' did the same thing, relocating the start button there.

But I'm confused by your "redoing the dash" comment - why would you need to do that? You could just get the cubbyhole / USB / Aux trim piece from a car with push button start.

Yup, if you're going to be fabricating your own push button start, might as well do something that the other twins don't have. Fighter jet style push buttons are always fun.

Plus, having the cover on there would decrease the chances of you accidentally pressing that button if you ever rest your arm there or something falls on it.

Nope, the cubbyhole pops out. I don't know the part number or how much it costs, but I imagine it isn't more than $25, it's just a ~8"x2" piece of plastic with a cubbyhole, a bezel to mount the start button in, and a hole for the USB/Aux connector.

If you click on the accessories tab there is a key knob replacement (thing) that you turn but don't need to put your key in.
