Yes. It is completely find to bring your completely stock car to the track. I highly recommend doing it this way so you learn the car and figure out what mods you want. Most clubs will give you 5x 20 minute track sessions with classroom instruction between these sessions. Most track days are spread over 2 days, so that equates to 10 sessions - just depends on the organizer. Stock brakes and fluid should be fine on VIR. You'd be surprised on how well they perform. VIR is a faster track and shouldn't be too tough on your brakes. You may experience some fade on the second day. I've never driven there personally, but that's what I've been told so don't take my word for it. My recommendation is to go ahead and get a set of replacement brake pads and fluid, because you'll probably need them soon after your track day. The biggest and best thing you can do for yourself (and your instructor), is to leave your ego at the gate, and keep an open mind. They're there to teach, and you're there to learn. Other things you can do are get a nice tire pressure gauge. Something 0-60psi since you'll be in the 35psi range. Another thing to get is a gridded notebook and something to write with. This will be your logbook where you will record time, air temp, tire pressure, and any other notes. What dates are you looking at? I'm hoping to get in another track day. VIR would be sweet. |

Problem is that we just bailed my sister-in-law out of some financial trouble and it put a huge crimp in my "fun" money so I'm not sure I'll be able to go this fall . I really would like to go to VIR for at least Monday's event. Never done it and it sounds like fun.

Another thing you can do, is go spectate an event. Depending on the organizer, they do parade laps during lunch, which are usually free. You can get on the track and follow a pace car. The parade laps can get pretty spirited. |

Is there any interest in having a local meet at the gokart track? I'd be willing to organize it if there was enough interest.
We have 2 options: Victory Lane Karting (VLK) and GoPro Motorplex (GPMX). VLK is an indoor track, but it is centrally located for most of us. Plus they should be opening a bar/grill soon, so it would be a one-stop shop for everyone. GPMX is the new outdoor track and it's amazing. It's a pretty far drive though. Plus they don't have any onsite food options. I'm thinking we could start with VLK, but it's really up to you guys. If you're interested, let me know and post your availability. |

About $25 for a 8-10m race. VLK has a happy hour special from 5-7p, M-F for members. It's buy 2 get 2 free. Yearly membership is $15, membership rate is $20 a race, which equates to $40 for 4 races plus $15 membership.
