Look up Buddy Club. They have a 17x7 +42 5x100. 17lbs.
Street price cheaper than TR's exclusive RPF1's.

I got mine from MiataRoadster. They are a dealer.
http://www.miataroadster.com/

There should be dealers in Canada, I assume.

The Buddy Club P1 right? It's a good looking wheel, and 17lbs isn't too bad.

Thanks. Looking at that miata store, haven't found these ones yet, only ET48 so far.

It's the SF Challenge wheel. If it's not listed just ask the dealer, they should be able to get them. I think the standard P1 was discontinued. The SF Challenge wheel has colored stripe around the wheel. Style points? Maybe, depends on your tastes. I just got them for the size, spec, and price.

Because less weight transfer.

The +48 offset is not bad. The Koseis are +50 and the only options I've found at +42 are the Enkeis and discontinued/used Traklites or Velox wheels. I'll have the Enkeis and some other set (probably with a +48 offset) next season. The car can win locally on even OEM wheels.

Not that I know of... I've only seen Z2s and Rivals at National events on our cars. I'm worried about camber issues for the R1Rs too, but let us know if you try them. We have a local driver on Michelin Super Sports who is consistently behind everyone on Rivals/Z2s, but I want to try R1Rs, Yokos, or whatever else might come out to start the year. I ran Z2s all year and know they're good, but I want to see what else could work.

I'm not that fast, lol.
I'm not gonna have top rubber anyway so I thought I'd at least maximize their grip (via wider track) to have a shot at an occasional trophy.

Are they still making those Velox wheels? I think I emailed the producer last year and got no reply.

I got lucky and was able to find some new (old stock) discontinued enkei rs-7's on ebay for $400 shipped. They are 17x7 +42. granted they're around 18lbs, but I didn't really care at that price.

Anyone thinking of running 18x7s to get taller gearing? Weighing the trade off with slower acceleration out of slow turns vs +2mph...

Been in a LOT of conversations about this with hardcore autocrossers that love the maths. Numbers dont work out in our favor. I was close to going this route too.

Are there even any 18x7 out there? It's kind of an odd size. But I haven't looked that hard.

if you go 18s with the proper rubber to go up a size, you're effectively raising your center of gravity

so i wouldn't see this as a benefit

16s on the other hand...

but i gather the tire sizes equal out anyway so there is no point

17s it is
