I always use 93 or 92 since the Wawa 1 minute from my house only has 92. My salesman let me know without me asking that they took the car to a gas station across the street since their pumps didn't have premium. Very reassuring.

Mazda Sky engine 13:1 runs 87 octane.

He calls the 14:1 CR "groundbreaking," though it's a lesser 13:1 in U.S. engines to accommodate our 87-octane regular gas. A "breakthrough" combination of technologies – including direct multi-hole injection, dual VVT, new-design pistons, a unique 4-2-1 exhaust system, shorter combustion duration and delayed ignition during start-up – prevents knock.

Baby it and put premium back in it as soon as possible. The ECU will adapt to reduce knocking but make sure to put some premium back in it as soon as possible.

It's simple - when the label on the fuel filler door say 'Premium Fuel Recommended' you can use lesser octane with degradation in performance but no damage to the engine. When it says 'Premium Fuel Required' just do what it says.

My area got Ron 95 and Ron 97, usually I'm using Ron 97 for the 86. What if I try the Ron 95 for this car, is it ok guys? Does it affect the engine?

I would put 95 if given the opportunity to buy it.

Oh well.

Long term damage will occur, shorting the life expectancy of you're engine. Producing metal flakes in you're oil. Let alone decrease in Engine Performance/ fuel efficiency.
Uhhhh I'm no mechanic but I think you are confusing two entirely different things. Did you just copy & paste that from somewhere? It's in a weird format.

Yep, ...... like "ping" and "knock" ..... the first being not good .... the second being really bad .....

And both referring to detonation.

I think he got confused with "rod knock" which is different.

Detonation can be a cause (not the only one). But the cars are designed to not have catastrophic failure due to one street driven tank of 87, right?
