I'm pretty sure the BRZ and FRS will both be getting most of the assembly done at the same Fuji Heavy Industry (Subaru parent company) plant. So I don't think comparisons to other Scion pricing and availability really applies.

I'd really like some of these lower estimates to be true but I fully expect the pricing to come in at least at $25k for the base model FRS and then go up from there. I wouldn't be surprised to see the fully loaded BRZ get close to $30k. The Limited WRX with nav and satellite radio (standard stuff on the BRZ) is over $31k. I believe the BRZ will be less than that but not by a ton.

1 person is in line so far for my dealer in Nashville. There isn't going to be a shortage here and in many other cities.

^Good point! If we compare Subaru prices in Japan, UK, and US it would give us a better raw number conversion estimation than the Miata ratio because the manufacturer is the same.

Also Hyundai Gen Coupe prices in UK, Japan, and US is worth comparing to give us some sliding factor for market demand (not price conversion).

There is no WRX in the UK any more we only get the STi http://subaru.co.uk/vehicles/sti/sti-range/

the specs are a bit different but ours is closest to the WRX STi Limited at $39.5K before tax and import duty

about $32.5k but the specs aren't quite the same. It has gone up massively in the last couple of years. VWs aren't very well equipped in the UK so once all the options are added it becomes very expensive, the equivalent of the Autobahn model over here would be $38k (nearly $46k with sales tax)

the R version can easily get well over $50k before tax with options

in Europe you have the ridiculous situation where cars built outside the EU are charged 10% import duty but they usually end up cheaper than cars made in the EU that don't pay it. With VW it is cheaper to buy a GTI in the USA and import it back to Europe than it is at the dealer just down the road from the factory (even discounting all the taxes).

Had a call from my Toyota dealer yesterday with some 'new' information!

I waited with baited breath... "The list price will be £24995" OLD NEWS!
"Toyota Touch will be the audio/coms system" OLD NEWS!
"I can confirm UK customer deliveries will begin in June" COOL!! Nice to have a date!

Sigh. I literally posted this one page ago:

"For reference, a VW GTI (with less equipment) starts at 25.3k-ish GBP. I realize that they are imported from different countries so the exchange rate may be different, but Toyota can do math. They will price the car according to what they feel consumers in each market will be willing to pay for it. I'm guessing the Scion will fall around $23k, the BRZ Premium will be $24.5k, and the BRZ Limited will be around $27.5k."
