Swapping an 2JZ, LSx, lambo v10, or a jet engine almost ALWAYS sounds like a coolguy thing to say on an car forum but it is almost ALWAYS unrealistic for 99% of the owner population.
I feel the some of the posts in this tread do a great job of mixing fantasyland with reality in an attempt to justify an ownership decision that may not have been the best one. |

Don't know about the van but it's all about how deep your pockets are... with the right platform of course.

Both cars aside. Any car you race/drive at the limits is going to brake. That's a fact, the advantage of the s2k is we already know what those things typically are. The FRS is a new platform so there is little data in comparison. However the FRS makes a great DD it is having problems on the track given all the reports.
I will say that although I don't race like crazy, I do have a few HPDE days in this car and I didn't hold back at all. Bouncing of the rev limiter cause I had no where to go rpm/gear wise in certain corners, shorting over 100mph in the straights for multiple 20-25min sessions a day. After all that the only problems I suffered was brake fade and needing a new set of tires.

Going to HPDE and tracking events is one of the most encouraging places to go. Every discussion point can be tested, verified, or re-evaluated for consistency through demonstration. Again, we encourage everyone to go out to at least one track day with their vehicles. If you need some driver instruction, just holla' at one of us and we'll help you guys out.
![]() It has been proven that the S2000 is reliable and very performance oriented with relatively low levels of upkeep. That is actually a very strong statement from the S2000 camp. Denying those facts is like saying Ayrton Senna is a myth. What we must understand is that the BRZ/FRS is simply one decade newer with fresher ideas, materials, and goals. Whether it can be a reliable piece of engineering, is up to us to discover...which hasn't been quite up to our standard yet... On top of that, the BRZ/FRS does things very well that the S2000 may struggle a bit. That is being incredibly stable in high speed cornering. This car was literally made to be driven flatout like the AE86. While you drive it flatout, the car is so slow at pickup that you can drink some tea and watch some Highlander while you're at it. It's a joke, but it's not a joke when it really makes up for the severe lack of power by having an extremely low drag and balanced aero. Ask us how we know...

I can attest to that. My FR-S has already given me way more problems in 18k miles then my s2000 has under 80k miles under similar use
![]() I'll know more in 2-3 weeks after I get the car run through the dealer. No time to now. Short story, car isn't drivable except up into the trailer and down into the dealer parking lot. All I'll say for now.
