I am quite confused.

I was driving through a residential area with the speed limit of 30 MPH. I'm driving down one street, i see people are on the side of the street for some reason but no one in the middle, so the path is clear and i'm rolling at 25. All of these middle aged women start yelling at me to slow down? Huh?

Probably because the car looks fast, or they're all on the rag.

Every time a parent sees me in this car i get a dirty look, i don't drive fast in residential zones, i always stop fully at stop signs. Catch me going 7 over on the highway? I'll take it, but i guess people have always had a strange hatred over cars that "look fast" or of sporty nature.

No i'm still on stock exhaust, if i did then i'd quite understand, i wouldn't be complaining. And no i wasn't in a high RPM or anything.

If you haven't noticed this is a reoccurring problem of mine, 4th time its happened this year. One more time and i'll start sending letters to ever house in the neighborhood demanding all the parents to chill the fuck out and contact me if they have personal problem.

I am guessing you were underpaid with respected to the *market salary* negotiated by the union. Once you merged, the employer is required to level your non-union employee salaries with them, hence the raise.

That is indeed a huge raise given the current situation.

Were there sidewalks on the street or just the curb? If no sidewalk, I would agree with those women because if there are people walking besides the street with no sidewalk, you should probably slow down a bit, or like Ichi said, slow down to 5 mph *just for them*.

If there is sidewalk, I am with you there should be no fuss about 25 MPH. Heck, I have seen people driving at 50+ MPH in a 25 MPH (with sidewalk) for no apparent reason.

I think objects on the edge of the road would be more of a factor. Is there a chance some little asshole could pop out from behind a car or a bush and get 86ed? If not, then they can just calm the fuck down. Whether the women had some unseen legitimate reason to give him the death stare or not, this story doesn't surprise me one bit. People are irrational. Think about how often you see drivers do dumb things while driving. Those people don't only exist in their vehicle - sometimes they stand out in their yard and give random, inexplicable looks to passing drivers.
