Thanks for the advice. I've been applying for the past 3-4 months, because i was busy working on graduate school shadowing hours over the summer. Recently i have been pretty bumped about my situation. I'm considering going back to school and working on plans B,C, and D. It seems like most places don't want to hire me because i don't have experience, and that is a vicious cycle. Trying my best to earn it.

Not at all, I'll go ahead and explain my situation so if anyone has any advice they can chime in. I graduated with a degree in Kinesiology - Exercise science. My plan was to apply to graduate school for occupational therapy and since the process takes an entire year, I was going to take the year off and maybe travel or something. After finishing my applications and applying, i figured i would google jobs with my degree to have some kind of income to either save up and get ready for grad school, travel, and of course get some mods Sure enough there was a moderate amount of listings that came up. I was a little surprised because i was under the impression that my degree was essentially useless and was only meant for people to go on to physical/occupational therapy schools or get their masters/PHD. The jobs i applied for included Exercise Physiology, Exercise/Fitness specialist, Workstation evaluator, and i even swallowed my pride and applied to be a personal trainer. Some applications will say experience preferred but not required or 1-3 years of experience, i usually meet the other requirements (degree,CPR, etc.) A few places for exercise specialist called me, but told me they were looking for someone with just a little prior experience. This experience has made me a little depress even though it wasn't part of my original plan to get a job with my degree, i am worried that i may not get accepted to graduate school since it has gotten super competitive in the past few years. Even if i find a job with my current degree im looking at 38-55k a year without much room to move up, unless i get lucky and land a job with an oil company some how. My plan now is to go back next semester and work on a degree for computer science and another degree to be a plant operator (can't remember the name of it) while working at the campus rec to get some experience. I'm just really afraid of failing in life and my window is kind of closing.

Dont be afraid of getting rejected. I heard that it is really competitve in texas when it comes to getting in med school. Just apply to atleast 7 schools and some out of state. If that doesnt work out then continue with your plan b .

Double long post quote sorry. Rant INCOMING. Kids starting college these days are FUUUUUCKED. They don't understand that you can't have a bs degree like english/Graphics Design anymore. Not saying your degree is bs but it seems like it should have been a minor and you majored in something different to apply it to.

I'm saving up to go back and finish college up (2 years left). I have some friends that can get me a job once I get a degree. I would say getting into an IT job will be easier. Start off as help desk/general tech support and work your way up.

Idk about graphic design but degrees like english, history, and anthropology have been pretty much useless for awhile now unless you get your masters or PHD. I think most degrees require you to know someone to get you in unless you have tons of credentials and exp. From what i understand IT 2yr degrees pay pretty well and i have a friend who got a job immediately after she finished. A Computer science degree is really marketable as well and i can only imagine it will increase, as of now it is ranked 2nd as the best 4yr degree to get right under Engineering. My buddy was doing an internship over the summer getting $27 an hour and they hired him on part time when school started back up.

I think the medical field is where its at. Especially if you are going to specialize in something such as a surgeon, cardiologist, and dermatologist.

Petroleum engineers have been making disproportionately more than other engineers this past decade. Good money is to be had in alternative energy/energy efficiency technologies.

Years ago I did computer engineering then decided to walk away from it and start from almost scratch by studying my other interest, wireless communications. Eventually landed some solid jobs in that field and been going strong ever since. I notice I've had a lot of luck in it in the midst of the recession because it seems to be a consistently growing field in which the supply of people in that industry is outstripped by the demand.

At least there's options... I'm a recent Civil Engineer Graduate (1 hour away from taking the Fundamentals of Engineering exam...) and in 4 months I have yet to even get an interview to all the jobs I've applied...

What exactly is computer engineering, Do you build circuits? and what degree does wireless communication fall under? You're correct, Gas and energy company is where the money always is.
