Bhuahaha! That's why I live alone.

On 87 octane E10 it knocks (I hear an unhealthy hammering sound anyway) if I give it heavy throttle at 1400rpm, on E20 it doesn't do that until about 1100, and on E27 I can step on it at 800rpm and the engine doesn't groan at all. Fueling requirement goes up 5%? I should measure the AFRs sometime to see if boosting the ethanol concentration throws off the ECU so it boosts the AFR a little in open loop. I think stock it runs 12.5 at the top end, 13:1 would make more power.

I paid 3.15 a gallon or something vs. 3.75 for normal gas, so I lost like 50 cents total from the higher cost but that's cheaper than paying an extra 2.5 dollars for filling the whole tank with 91.
E30 is safe from my experience, only about 7% more fuel trim. E40 or above the ECU might have trouble adapting. I had a mixture with more than 40% in the Mazda5 without a CEL. But the long term trim was ~22%.

15% percent spread is actually pretty good. For that price you're running about the same cost per mile as Premium. Detonation at low RPM is usually where Ethanol makes the most difference. So that's where the biggest gains come.

So, my parents recently bought a new convertible and have since cleaned out the garage so they can park both my mom's SUV and the convertible in it. What this means for me is nowhere to store my stock tires for the winter when I put the snow tires on. I guess I'll leave them in the back of my car. Never use the trunk or the back seats anyways, and they can be my weight.

Now I just need to figure out where to get them mounted. To the internet!

Damn. 40? My primitive 1ZZ does not enrich the mix before 4600rpm or something (I think the idea is that you can go 100mph on the Autobahn with the Euro spec car without running rich) so the hope is that above that the engine gets tricked into running a little less rich by screwing with the injector pulse extrapolation. I really need an Apexi PFC

I just filled the gas tank with normal gas today to dilute it down, I think it's at E21 now. Immediately the knocking sound came back. Gonna stick to 27-30% from now on, 3 gallons E85 per tank, which will cost me about 3% extra in fuel costs overall, which is not even as bad as running 89 instead of 87 (5% price hike). I think it's well worth the smoothness and avoiding the embarrassment of having weird sketchy noises when there's a passenger in the car.

Every YouTube Video

This is what I've been looking at for the last 5 months. Just so ya'll know my pain. Although I am able to copy the URL and paste it into Google to see the title of the videos. Same for blocked images, I just paste the URL into Google Images and can see a tiny thumnail; usually useless.

You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.

Random thought - I can always tell when 7:00am CST hits because the forums come alive! It's great. Also means I only have 3 hours of my shift left.
