Tacoma...

Was at a friends house when the neighbor knocked on the door and asked who drove the black car. From there I knew it was bad news. Guy hit me and tried to run, luckily he broke his front axle and couldn't leave the scene. Hopefully insurance totals it so I can buy a new one...

Did he really admit trying to run? Please tell me you got that in writing or recorded him saying that. Sorry about that, but I doubt they'll total it. There was a guy on here that got hit with a lot more damage than that and I think they barely totaled it.

i think it was his neighbor that came over to tell him, not the guy who ran into him. i think?

He didn't admit, just assumptions I made based on the distance he was from the incident and what the neighbor described. I guess what matters to me is that he admitted fault to his insurance company, which is good enough for me. Hard to tell in the picture, but there looks to be slight unibody damage. We'll see how much this guy's insurance will try to gyp me.

I've worked in a body shop before and have seen way worse than that not get totaled. For example a few years ago brand new scion tc the only panel that was not damaged was the passenger door and we still had to fix it. But maybe I'm wrong for your sake.

Yup. My buddy just bought a house there. People always speed down his street. Worst part was my friend was parked in front of me and another behind me. He totally missed them. Oh well, what can you do...

I think it might have been mine. The hot lava fr-s with the door pretty much gone. It came damn close to the total percentage.

Brand new car, I'd sue the insurance for the massive depreciation in car resale value after a wreck. Can't hide from Carfax.

Update. So far pre-repair damage estimate is at 5k. Working on a diminished value claim with the insurance. I had a professional appraiser say i lost about 5-7k on the value due to it not being able to be a "certified" used Subaru. Now i'm just waiting for it to be fixed and get the final appraisal. It's going to be a long uphill battle.
