Not totally sure, but I think limited supply and high demand probably impacted the "deal" being extended to more people. Last time I checked the S. CA group buy thread had like 10+ buyers with deposits already in...

Group buy is for the BRZ and I'm ready to write a check right now.
Just curious how tight your deal is? Did you guys work this out with the sales manager or some lowly young sales guy? Would hate for the dealership to be short supplied and the sales manager/owner renege on the deal or say SOA won't let them fulfill it.

General Sales Manager directly. They are the only Subaru dealer in the area that really caters to enthusiasts (they have held rallycrosses, their service manager started the Subaru Challenge, they sell more WRXs and STIs than anyone around here by a long shot, etc). They know what their reputation is so I'm not concerned with that.

SoA won't let them go with VIP probably (we had an agreement for both, VIP if SoA allows it or $499 over invoice if they don't [or if the buyer isn't eligible for VIP]), but they can't enforce any pricing beyond that.

To answer the other question, only 3 were confirmed. ZGrinch, Will (their service manager) and myself.

I gave them Crash's info but that was after we were told the deal ended after the three of us due to updates from the regional rep on supply, pre-ordering (the lack of it), VIP denied, etc. So far we've heard secondary (or more) sources on the supply and pre-ordering but SoA still hasn't given me a yes or no on the VIP so either they don't want to piss off customers or they really haven't made the decision yet. Oh and I don't know what Crash was offered, I haven't heard from Crash (haven't asked either) and of course I don't expect for the dealer to tell me.

I'm third on the list, and yes Dave is going to take my DMG first...joker, but they have more than one dealership, so I'm hoping for some type of transfer. Want either DMG or black...and I know Dave doesnt want black....

Hmmm.... Maybe they will get a black in first

The BRZ/FR-S might be able to pull off flat black pretty well

Haven't found a dealer around Houston that will take a deposit atm, dealers keep saying they will add to the list to contact when they do
