I have the same symptoms, one of the Avondale toyota techs took a drive with me and said it was normal. I'm pretty sure that's not normal.

I've grinded 3rd and 5th once or twice under "spirited" driving. Seems to me its due to slop in the drivetrain moreso than a mechanical transmission problem. I had similar issues in my NA Miata before I upgraded the trans and diff mounts.

Side note - has Scion / Subaru released an actual fix to the HPFP chirping? That's getting tiresome as well...

After 3 hours of fighting my car (it made me bleed from multiple spots), I have a new front swaybar...and it's knocking like a motherfucker! I'll need to throw it up on the lift in the morning again and see if I can figure out why.
