Haha... yeah, it gets a little too real in VA. Technology has come a long way, so I doubt you'll have as many problems as with the Type-R.

I mentioned on an earlier post I owned one of the first US MR2s back in the day. I had that very experience about everywhere I went, but I really didn't mind. Got to meet a lot of good folks that way.

My favorite one was getting pulled over by a cop who claimed a vehicle "meeting your car's description was seen leaving a crime scene". He then proceeded to look the car over and ask me lots of questions about it. Given I had the only one sold in my area for about 60 days, I either robbed a bank I didn't remember or he had it confused (heaven forbid) with a Fiero. 8^)

People keep saying this, but my dealer keeps telling me otherwise.

WOW, it sounds like some of you don't deserve to be one of the First 86. I've never seen such negativity about getting a new car. Sounds like a bunch of spoiled children a month before Christmas begging to open their presents! Yes, I'm anxious too, but I'm not crying about it everyday. I'll admit, I'm an impatient person. But to me, this just makes it all that more intriguing. PLUS, they told us it would probably be the middle of May before we get them.

MY dealer, although oblivious to the whole program at the time, is really excited about the fact that he's the only dealer in the Houston area (as far as we know) that will be getting the car at his dealership. When I went in to sign the papers, they brought out the General Manager AND the Owner of the dealership to meet me. They're looking forward to it as much as I am.

I'm probably one of the oldest, if not THE oldest, that is on this forum. Let me give you some advise: Be patient. No need to rush things. You'll learn as you get older that time goes by TOO fast. YOUR ONE OF ONLY 86 PEOPLE TO BE SELECTED. Enjoy the moment!!!

Yeah, I don't think people are getting upset that we have to wait. We're getting upset that we "won" an opportunity to buy a car that we have no idea how much it will cost, what will come with it, or when we'll get it. It's a fail contest.

:happy0180: I would be extremely happy to be one of the 86. Unfortunately, I'm not that lucky.

I feel lucky and I'm still excited about the car. Everyday I get to look at that sweet desktop background that I've had since I was selected! And I almost didn't get it because I never received an email. The weekend after the drawing, I kept getting phone calls on my cell phone that I didn't recognize. I think most people do the same thing I do in that situation...DON'T ANSWER THEM! Finally, on the Monday after the drawing, I decided to check my voice mail. I had 9 messages on there. Most of them from the dealer trying desparately to get in touch with me. The rules were that you had to respond within 96 hours after notification of being selected (not sure why it wasn't 86 hours). Anyway, I called them back and ended up at the dealership that same day. Had I not listened to the voicemail, they would have moved on to someone else. Scion continued trying to send me the notification email but I would never receive it. They finally realized what the problem was. Years ago, I apparently blocked emails from Scion! SO, I gave them a different email address and I finally got it. If it weren't for the persistance of my dealership, I would have never even found this site!!!

Yes, I feel lucky!!!

Damn, that's awesome!

We should have a Texas Meet over in Houston when you get the car, so we can check it out haha. I know Longhorn and I would greatly appreciate that! He's in Houston too! And I'm fairly sure there's 5-6 more members from around here...
