Did you pressure check the intake tract after initial installation?

See as the possible metal debris would have the pass through the intercooler before it gets to the motor you might be ok. You can start by looking there and then pull the intake and scope the cylinder.

I did find a chunk sitting right in the entrance of the throttle body.We are scoping the cylinders Tuesday and flushing everything. Will do a couple oil changes in a row with a large magnet on the oil pan...let the car idle for a min for each change ...rebuild the turbo and if the motor is ok I'll be back in business next week.

Air leaks can cause over-speeding of turbochargers which is one of the most common causes of bearing failure.

I had this happen on a Volvo Penta at work. The intercooler caught everything. I replaced the turbo and intercooler and the engine ran like a champ. Just thought I'd offer a little hope. Good luck.

Finishing up my turbo install today. Running into a little difficulty getting the intercooler lines fitted. Especially around the driver's headlight area. The hard pipe that fits there seems to want to point the hoses right into the headlight. When bolted to the intake mount, the clearance with the water pump pulley is very tight. Is there a trick to this?

I found that a few of the spots where a tight fit to the pulleys... We just made sure anything close to them was secure for piece of mind.....zip ties ect lol

I'm in the navy, I didn't even try. We were in the gulf at the time, using that boat to board suspicious vessels. We didn't have time to **** around, it was a get it done right and now situation. As it was we had to locate the closest parts, convince the store to make a special trip to a courier, have the courier same day ship it to a near by city, and have a barge bring it out to us. All told it took a little less then a day and a little over $15,000 USD. The only reason we went that route is because we couldn't locate an assembled engine close enough, otherwise I would have been pulling the engine in god damn 60 deg C heat. I lost two holes on my belt worth of weight in the time it took me to replace those two parts, and that was with my boss doing nothing but running back and forth bringing me water.

The front of your turbo compressor blades were all chewed up, there's a very high chance it ate a nut or bolt from somewhere. When the bearings let go, the front outer edge of the blades start hitting and either bend or break off small chunks at the upper outer edge only.

I should point out right away in no way am I trying to shit on avo...Paul was very helpful during my install and I know that they do have a good product... Just bad luck for me. Kit is off and there are no missing nuts or bolts and piping was always secure...so we have no idea what happened. I will let you guys know what I find when I flush the intercooler.

About an inch of shaft play to
