Glad you are learning though. Spend time browsing all sections of the forum and you will learn a crap ton.
I imagined they would be the same thing besides the new standard touchscreen radio and navigation and knee cushions, but why not just ask here and get solid answers? Apparently it didnt go very smoothly here

Don't mod your car in till you know what you want from it.

Don't think now, think of the future. Will college always be close? Can i really live with a two door car? You'll get shit on for owing a car like this, people won't like you, cops will target you and your car can get vandalized (Very common here).

Also think of the cost of insurance, modding your car should be your last worry. Focus on saving up, when its on your driveway then make your wish list and come back to us.

When you do test drive this car, focus on the power band. It might not satisfy you.

Thanks. The college part isnt a worry because there is no reason why i would move or anything that could make me move. Two doors point makes sense, but i can live with it since nobody else will use it. I cant imagine why people would hate on me for owning an FRS? Cops i guess, but theyre too dumb around where i live to care or notice unless they hear it with a loud exhaust thanks to ricers who fart down the street. Around here, the only time your car will get vandalized if it has nice rims or if its an old Honda civic ricer. Insurance should be $50/month for state minimum but hoping for more coverage. Of course I will make final decisions after i buy it and get used to it, then i will know what it needs and what i can get for it. Like i said before, i guess this post originally came out of haste because its exciting to get a car like this at my age i guess and im just getting ahead of myself, but if i can eventually get the mods i want AFTER i buy and use the car for some time, that would be golden.

That's what I thought.

If your very first exposure to this car involved a test drive, I'll bet you would not be so enthusiastic. The FR-S/BRZ (they're essentially identical cars) are a long ways from an Evo X.

At your age, and with your limited experience, I'd guess that you would be happier in a car with a lot more torque, something that pins you back in your seat a lot more than the FR-S (which does not pin you back at all). You'll spend a lot of time in the FR-S with your foot flat on the floor thinking, "What? That's all?" The FR-S is about handling, and most young folks prize power and torque over handling. (I'm older than your dad! )

One can modify an FR-S to be more like an Evo or STi, but it would be far easier and a better financial decision to just buy an Evo or STi.

Search for @Dezoris on these forums. He has some excellent videos, especially the one where he sums up his experiences modifying his FR-S. Watch that, and think about it carefully. I doubt that he'd repeat the experience, and I question whether you would be any happier if you go down that path.

Without modifying the FR-S for more torque and power, I question whether you will be satisfied with this car. It feels slow. If you want a faster car, and I expect you do, then don't mod this one – just buy a faster car to begin with; it's a lot more cost-effective, more satisfying, and a lot less trouble.

But some people love modding, and that's cool, too. Maybe that's you?

My guess is that most young drivers with similar experience as you, would prefer a car that feels faster. You'd enjoy it more than an FR-S, which is an "acquired taste." Truly enjoying the FR-S calls for more depth of experience and time in faster cars to better experience the virtues of this "slow" car.

You've clearly fallen in love with this car. But, apart from the appearance and the idea of it, you really don't know anything at all about this car. My guess is that if you were blindfolded, placed into the driver's seat, and told to drive it, not knowing what you were driving … you'd think, "Sure, it's nice … but it's not for me, thanks." Then you'd drift over to the WRX STi and ask if you might drive that. Or, maybe a Mazdaspeed3. We love ours; we're on our second one. Of course our MS3 isn't as sexy as our BRZ, but oh boy is it a lot faster.

I suspect you may be too much in love with the idea of this car. When the "idea" of this car fades soon after you buy one and you put on some miles, when the reality sets in, I suspect that you will be dissatisfied with the FR-S.

You need to be sure, and the only way you're going to learn is with repeated "spirited" test drives.

You don't strike me as the right driver for this car; then again, maybe you'll love it as we do.

Good luck. Have fun, and be safe in whatever car you finally choose.

All the other cars you mentioned are so ugly i feel ill lol. But really, i cant imagine owning one of those. If it looks and feels nice, ill pick it over some power. Of course, driving it will make my final decision, but if i do have to mod it in the future to add power, ill also make it my own the way i want it to feel and look and thats what ive always loved, like building my own computers and for others. So ill just have to wait and see

Thats just my opinion. The styling of the FRS is far better than that of the MS3 or STi, in my opinion. I think the FRS catches the eye and everytime i see one on the street i just stare at its curves

Well I never said that they would fit the brz. If I was to get a brz I would make sure any aftermarket parts I got would be for the brz. In this thread, I'm talking about the frs.

Sorry if I offended you. Wasnt trying to be rude, but obviously came off as such. What do you mean I'm one of THOSE special kids? The kids that get everything they want? If I was given the opportunity to get any car, I would take the opportunity. If I was to get an FRS, that would probably be the only really nice thing I've gotten, and its definaetly not like my parents would buy it for me.

OMG that was complete sarcasm buddy. Both cars are pretty much the same. The only mods that don't translate are front lips and some other front bumper accessories.

Pretty harsh response... Especially because his assessment of the MS3 and WRX's looks are 100% correct.
