for only 40 hp im not so sure it'd be worth it then. fwiw the TRD tundra kit is almost $6000 msrp. sure you retain warranty but is it really worth it? i'd much rather go with a high quality aftermarket kit, tune it semi conservatively and enjoy. now if they can get 300 hp and the kit costs way less than $6k, i'd definitely get the TRD kit.

I probably won't be boosting this car because I would want it to be competitive in autox. However if I did boost it I'd go supercharger. easy install, low maintenance, and good throttle response through the whole power band.

I'm of the camp that I'd definitely be waiting for warranty to expire and learning the car/tuning my suspension during that process.
That said, by the point in time that I'd be ready for more power, probably 4 years into ownership, There should definitely be an inexpensive kit on the market, maybe by jackson racing or something like that. As for tuning, I know that DI and the high compression ratio will make it more difficult, but does anybody know if there are other modern engine technologies that will complicate the tuning process like VTC? I'd be looking for the simplest solution possible, most likely plug&play, similar to getting a SC on a K20 with the hondata reflash for it like the base comptech SC did, since I just want a little bit more power like 250, nothing wild in the 300s |

For me I could easily justify it.. TRD always gets CARB approved. No way i want something that doesn't pass stupid effing CA smog laws. Would much rather pay for a hassle free performance boost then have to worry about bringing it back to stock every two years. Then again, plenty of you guys out of CA and some other states don't have to worry about it at all!
