^x2 since that's where most of the gains appear to be had and how one gets rid of that pesky dip in the mid-range (short of a really good tune as far I understand it). |

TRD exhaust (non quad) is CARB legal I'm about 92.5% sure.

Exhaust doesn't need CARB certification. Hell you could even run the JDM quads if you wanted.
All that matters is the sticker on the TRD intake so you guys with the BRZs that already bought one should be ok, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE CARB/EO STICKER. |

Catbacks don't require certification. Otherwise every muffler shop in the state would be put out of business...
The certification is indeed only for the FRS... |

Too bad DC Sports isn't the same as 10+ years ago. Almost all of their headers for the Honda community were CARB legal.

The headers for Honda's back in the 90's were CARB Legal because most of them were Pre-Cat headers. The real challenge with headers for the FRS/BRZ being CARB legal is the position of the stock Cat. Since it is welded to the stock headers and not bolted on I think we are SOL without welding in a new 50 State Legal Cat.
Does the 6 year no smog rule apply to everyone in the US or just California? I'm curious to see how the California cars that have removed the secondary cat are effected when they go to smog their car. |

I have help friends pass smog with non CARB legal cats by custom mounting the stock heat shields around them. Can definitely work however is still illegal. I have seen this done with Turbo upgrades as well (however not applicable on the FRS or BRZ at this time sadly).

I would just swap my stock bits back on with my N/A Impreza. Its really not too difficult with N/A Subaru motors like this, even with the overpipe.
Maybe a CARB legal snorkel would be something cool too? Nobody seems to have produced one of those in the states yet anyway. |

Snorkel shouldn't be too big of an issue. The issue with modding intake pipes is that it could have potentially moved the location of the MAF sensor which is tampering with smog equipment.
I know that the fine for removing a cat is 2500, or at least it was a few years ago. Does the CARB/EO sticker specifically say Toyota vehicles only? |
