oh bummer @Simpleviet I must have just missed you as I left then. I stayed there until 12:30pm and didn't see any other 86s. Chatted for a while with the WRX owner and a guy with an older Vette Z06, checked out some cool cars like a 458, GTR, bunch of 911s and Vettes. Got word that a lot of bikers would be heading up Hwy 9 so I decided to avoid that, and headed for Mt. Hamilton instead. On the way there @BRZkitty gave me a call to see if I was still at C&C but I said I was already gone. Winding up the Mt. Ham road I got stuck behind a long train of cars, all moving really slowly and it wasn't until they all turned off at Grant Park that I was able to pick up the pace. Took it easy anyways as the road is very tight and twisty with sheer cliff drop-offs if you go wide. Stopped by the observatory at the top and took a short break, then down the other side on San Antonio Valley Rd. Here you can really push the car going downhill and there is good visibility on most of the hairpin turns so I definitely got the tires working there. Came up on two pickup trucks that were holding me up for a while, but thankfully they waved me by at a good spot and it was happy times again.

I reached the Junction Cafe and stopped in there for a burger, onion rings and a soda. I thought it was a little funny that I was the only guy in there besides one regular they knew by name, and they still asked for and wrote my name down on the order and called my name when the order was ready LOL. Anyways the burger was alright but the onion rings were quite good with a distinct beer battered flavor. Random thought there, can you get drunk off of eating a beer battered onion ring? LOL probably not.

Anyways after lunch I continued on Mines Rd back to Livermore. Mines is still somewhat gravelly after some recent repaving work. Avoid it for a few more weeks I think. Well it's still fun but you can't push too hard knowing there might be loose gravel/rocks in some corners. And you'll pick up rock chips if you follow someone too close. Clear bra ftw tho. I came up on a guy on a motorcycle he was going soooo slow, and also riding along the middle yellow line for no good reason. I dunno if he was too old and tired to properly lean and turn the bike any more than necessary or what, but the line he took through the corners was in my book questionable. I followed him for many miles and was wondering if he even knew I was back there behind him. Eventually he waved me by and I had a last fun blast through the downhill section before Mines reaches the flat lands again. For fun quotient I give today's drive a 7/10. Too many slow cars/trucks out there, which is why it's best to go really early morning or late night.

Cool story and pics, let's go for a drive soon!

Finally, I reached the intersection and made a right to skyline and take a peak what's up there and hopefully may see them. As always, the view was gorgeous. Sometime, I want to do a drive there to watch the sunset or perhaps sunrise.

Hi everyone,

Just got my baby recently, and was looking for a nice route to take him in and with nice photoshoot opportunities. Any recommendations?

Depends on your location/how far you are willing to go. The whole group comes from all over the bay. A good handful of us are in the east bay and frequent redwood rd./pinehurst mines rd. down to SJ. Also, lots of good photo locations overlooking the bay along grizzly peak rd. up in the oakland/berkeley hills. Have fun and welcome!

Nice! I'm from the East Bay too. Many have mentioned the Redwood/Pinehurst one so I'll probably check that out and definitely the grizzly peak. Thanks!

Yeah, love driving Redwood Rd. very lucky to be working close by. I have a little 1 hr. loop I do, perfect for a quick lunch time drive.

I hear ya, I'm a valley boy myself (Stockton), fortunately for you, the foothills are close enough, not for a lunch time blast, but maybe an early morning drive.

Fetched a delicious vietnamese sandwich in Campbell in the late afternoon. Decided to hit up Highway 9 since Saratoga was right there. Super nice day... Stopped at this little spot to admire the scenary and donuts markage... people must be having lots of fun out there . The drive was great besides getting stuck behind an old crysler 300 (old man braked on every little turn) on my way back :< Everytime I take her out for a drive, she never fails to leave a smile on my face

Oh snap @BRZkitty I should have called you, I was on Hwy 9 today exploring as well!

I did a pretty epic drive today...(errr now yesterday I guess). Hwy 9 down to Santa Cruz, then exploring Felton Empire/Ice cream grade/Bonny doon rd out to the coast. Up Hwy1 to Pescadero stopped for some baked goods and then further on Pescadero Rd back to La Honda and Alice's. And then down Skyline 35 back to 9 again. It was meant to be a scouting run for the Oct 19 meet drive but guess that's moot as the location has changed to Livermore instead of Los Gatos.

Oh well it was a fantastic drive and we will have to do it as a group sometime. Total drive time about 2hrs 45 min though... For true DRIVE addicts only.
