Yeah I'm on the base kit with the gt2871 but I did put a fx400 clutch in it right away cause I beat my shit like it owes me money. Plans for bigger turbo and injectors will prolly happen when we're deep in the middle of our Canadia winter. I'm putting off swapping my fans out till next spring for some ones with more cfm but that's it for cooling for me.

No clue how it happend, I was driving Saturday while it was raining but it was rain....so what. It ran fine no problems what so ever, shut down as usual idled down the driveway. Let it cool for a few seconds and then off. Didn't drive it Sunday (it poured off and on all day) then went to go to work Monday morning and it cranked over 2 Mby 3 times and stopped I hit the key again and it didn't even turn.

Got home started to pull it apart when I pulled the intake pipe off the throttle body atleast 1 qt of water ran out of it. Pulled the plugs spun the engine till it seemed all the water was out. Ran it with the charge pipe unhooked and it was knocking like crazy and there was all kinds of water coming out of the intercooler outlet pipe. It is straight water no color no smell no taste have had 3 different people agree on that.

-,- parked it Saturday it sat outside in the rain hood down and all, then the charge pipe was filled with water....

Wow that sucks big time

I can't imagine how water would get in if it was running strong before, but water wasn't up to intake level. Was the water level ever up to the intercooler piping? Sorry man

That is really awkward. Unless you have a coupler that popped off without noticing, I cannot see how water could get up there.

My kit came with no thermal wrap of any kind. Not sure if it depends on the kit you buy.

Keep an eye on the oil pan bung. Mine developed a slow leak on one of the welds on the bung itself, and it's not a great place for it to do so.

Nope all of the charge pipe was intact until I started to pull it apart it was all in one piece until I got all the water out, started it with hope then the rod knock and then one final knock when it came out the side.....

The water in the driveway may have gotten to the charge pipe but it was not submerged, if it holds boost in shouldn't it hold water out? Don't really matter for now needs a block...

Does someone have a hate out for you? I can't see short of going through a massive amount of water what would cause that. On the plus side short blocks from Subaru are relatively cheap.

Yeah my neighbor used to, put sugar in my truck once. But I don't think he could really get to the engint unless he got under the hood.... I did think bout that tho. And I would totally agree with the big puddle idea but It ran like normal when I parked it? Idk my Dad and brother think it is just the moisture that was in the air when I shut it down but that is a whole lot of water...

Yeah that is the plan tonight is to start pricing the repair found a used shortblock for $800 (if i hadnt just signed papers on a house I wouldn't worry bout cheap but building it will have to wait)

So neither of your water cooling hoses for the turbo have any heat protection and are just rubber hoses? I would use a little JB Stick on that if you don't want to pull it to have it fixed. I will have to check mine as well.
