Did we miss this TSB?

Yup. If it's machining errors with the parts replacing them will resolve the issue. Personally I think even the re flashes are fixing things as much as they are "working around" machining errors.

I would take it to the dealer. It needs to be fixed, whether or not its the same issue is academic.

I've noticed this issue popping up twice so far since I've put my Greddy Turbo on and had my ECU flashed. I have about 6K miles and am working with my tuner. If the components are faulty before I did my mods, then this could suck a little bit...or a lot lol

-Check Engine Light on & Traction Control light on (same time, car parked)
-Code P0011
-Code P0017
-Code P000A

Can add me to the list. No codes *yet*

But a few times I've had the engine almost stall, severe shaking, and the headlights turned off (engine keep alive function engaged I guess) with RPM's dropping into the low hundreds.

I also typically have the engine always hunting at idle. Hot or cold engine, hot or cold weather. 400-900rpm idle range, 600 being the target... 600,500,400,900...800...700...600 repeat idle pattern. (dots being long interval, comma being rapid succession of number)

So I'm gonna attempt to repair this myself. Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the cam system? Hell, a picture of the part itself would work at this point so I can have an idea what my weekend could look like.

Honestly I see it like this. Mechanical parts can fail at a given point. If all they are doing is increasing the tolerance of the sensor parameters who's to really say that's safe? It's a cheap and quick 15 min patch but does it correct the issue? Also, is that what they've done? And if so, what are they so we can do the same?

Update 1:

I will be taking my FRS in on Monday for my idling issues. I've talked with my Tuner and we have a good feeling it isn't the E-85 Tune on my car. This will be a good test for Toyota to see if they are going to be cool with the warranty and a moded car. The dealership said that they will do their best to work with me on this. Hopefully good news and a good fix! lol

From everyone that I've spoken with it works a lot like this.

Have you flashed your ECU?
Did you flash back to stock before you took it in?
If not you are screwed 99% of the time.

The reason is that the car talks back to Toyota to tell them what to fix and blah blah blah... If the computer sees you've flashed the ECU it reports that to Toyota and they politely tell you it's not their fault. It's your tune.

Update 2:

You make a very valid point. I did chat with the service advisers about my modifications yesterday and they said if they can replicate the issue in the shop they'd help me out the best they can. I know what "blowing smoke up the ass" is but it's worth a shot. It might take a while but I will be sure to let everyone know about the results.
