Recently bought a scion frs
Hello I recently bought a scion frs and wanted to mod it.
So far I did a tint for all windows except the front -$110 HID lights/License plate light/ reverse light/ trunk light/switch back light/ interior light - $270 (felt I overpaid, but i didn't know better) I am planning to install my only white led footwell, and was wondering if the community knew any good brands. I am also running the risk without front license plate and was wondering if anyone knew if the automatic license plate hider worked on the frs? Also anyone know what other mods I should do for less than $300? |

Congratulations on the new car!
I hope you didn't get HIDs and LEDs off eBay, because they're not going to last. If you got them from a trusted vendor, $270 is pretty cheap for quality stuff. Not sure about the license plate hider. As far as other mods go, get a rear diffuser off eBay for less than $100. I've seen some for close to $70 in the states. Red/Smoke your tails if you're into that sort of thing. Clear/smoked side markers should be less than a $100 now. If you don't want an exhaust yet, you could at least get some nice exhaust tips so the rear diffuser will look nice. It doesn't look nice with the stock exhaust tips. This list goes on and on by the way. Lots of stuff you can do. Just depends on what you're into. |

^^^ ah ok...
Seriously, what do you want your car to look like? Go in the classifieds section and look at what the various vendors have to offer. Look through their sites as well. Maybe @kALMIGHTY can tell you what to do, but the rest of us can't. It's not our car. It's not our taste. It's not our vision. It's yours. For that budget, you can drop your car on lowering springs. You can get a basic poly lip kit. You can get a trunk lid spoiler. There are lots of little things, or a few big things you can do. And IMHO, exhaust tips is the stupidest suggestion unless you plan on never changing your exhaust.

Yea please don't do exhaust tips, solely for making it look like you have a better exhaust.... or anything that makes your car look faster without it actually better faster.

$110 for tint seems really cheap. Really cheap.
Same goes for HIDs for $270. The money spent on those really does have a good correlation with quality. Especially tint. Not sure if someone else can chime in, but I'd expect a $110 tint job to bubble and turn purple after a few years. As far as my mods have gone. I really like the clear side markers ($65 groupbuy I think, but they have cheaper ones now and you get free LED bulbs) and my shift knob ($70 groupbuy, both the Anarchy Motive ones are done now though). I certainly wouldn't risk not having a front license plate if I lived in a state that required one. |

Automatic license plate hider? You're a drug smuggler? Or maybe human trafficking?
Let me know if the latter. I'm tired of cutting my own grass and could use a slave or two. I've got cash in hand. Top dollah!

Good tint brands would be 3M (I have 3M Crystalline 70), Huper Optik and Suntek. Good HID brands are Morimoto and Meng's.

As far as front license plate goes it really just depends on your city. For instance i don't worry about my front tint and no license plate when i'm in LA, but when i'm in Irvine windows are always down. I've also heard that meter maids are handing out front license plate tickets while you are parked on the street...especially in places like SF...

I don't see a problem swapping out the tips for the japanese version of the tips. It's not to make it look like you have a better exhaust, it's for making the existing exhaust look better. Hardly the same as putting a 8ft spoiler on the trunk.
