i've owned 19 & 18s. never used the stock wheels. I currently own 17s 245 all around best set up would be 17s staggered or square. 18s is not bad.
Strange you say handling sucks, considering the fact the cars regarded as the best handling all come with 19's.

M3
Caymen
Boxster
911
F430
Gallardo
etc.

With that said, you're kind of a forum hero with your killer build and hilarious girlfriend video. So I value your opinion. Can you please elaborate as to how the 19's (GramLight) reduced your driving experience.

I had the same mentality as you, M3 , 911 , Caymen they all come in 19s so I figured why not , for me driving experience was bad very harsh ride compared to the other sets I've had. I did some time attacks with the 19s and had worse numbers than with my 18s , I couldn't grip at all. I was sideways not of the time. It was overall a bad experience , the gram lights were beautiful wheels but if I had to do it again I would of just went straight to 17s. Don't get me wrong , I had a lot of compliments about the wheels , just wasn't for me . I ended up selling my gram lights for dirt cheap. It's more for stance (19s)
I appreciate that you like my build , haven't updated it , waiting for my video shoot to come out. Car is a lot better now!

Key words "come with 19s". They were designed for 19s. M3 for instance come w 265/35/19, almost the same sidewall thickness as our 215/45/17. To put 19s on the twins "properly" you have to reduce the sidewall thickness by 1" to make up for the larger rim. I doubt its the "19s" that hurt the handling/ride as much as it was the tire size (lack of sidewall) or the weight possibly (maybe not lbs per say, but even if they were the same weight as oem, alot of that mass was further from the center of the hub)
