Think I am going to either turn my Rota's into Track only rims or just sell them along with the FR-S rims and buy something a little different.

Friday had the FR-S in for its 7500 mile service at Autonation Toyota, left the mods in-place including the UniChip..............they could care less and are very mod friendly.

Even discussed the intake I have and how touchy the MAF is with aluminum tube intakes. Seems the MAF dose not like the aluminum versions and his theory is the aluminum heat-soaks and will not allow the MAF to give correct readings. Most of the CEL issues he has seen are on aluminum intakes.......I do pop the rich CEL once in a while but figured it was from the MAF being in turbulent / wrong sized tubing....I looked at the Data logs later on and found when the intake readings show over 140 degree F is when the rich condition pops the CEL when the LTFT and STFT go to -25 to -30%.

This lead me to experiment, grabbed two of my 500 watt computer chillers (peltier effect chips http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermoe...Peltier_effect ) and attached them to the intake tube right next to the MAF, forward voltage cooled the tube, reverse voltage made it hot.....drove around while heating and when I got to 140 F I could get the STF and LFT trims to show -20% or more, cooling it kept them within 7% of 0.........while standing still at idle I got the benifit of under-hood temperatures making it worse......seems to be some reality to his theory.

As I gave away my stock intake I decided to order the TRD intake......should be here this week.

Before anyone gets the bright idea that adding a peltier effect chip to an intake to cool the incoming air for more HP, don't bother. 1000 watts of chips only dropped the intake temp reading 5 degrees F, you need to drop 10 degrees to get 1% HP increase.....746 watts is 1 HP, so I did not even come close to adding what I was using up......and that 1000 watts at 14.3 volts is 69.93007 amps (4 gauge wire to the chips).

Also while talking with the service manager he mentioned that the Subaru BRZ is getting a "factory supercharger kit" soon, but this kit will not be available for the Toyota / Scion dealers to sell......

Nice. Gotta love peltiers. Long time ago I was thinking of making motorcycle helmet ac/heater with them. Lol

I have your stock intake technically sitting in my living room. I only modded the snorkel which is on my car so let me know if you need that setup back.

And as far as the brz supercharger kit from subaru. Lolz. If I had a dime for everytime a sales or service guy mentioned a rumor to a forum member about fi on these cars id be able to afford fi on my car. Lol

I figured you still had it, but getting the TRD one will also let me try some other ideas I have. Guess the engineer in me wont let me stop making stuff, LOL

The Intake I am running now is my own design, similar to the FA Club one I had on first but larger tubes with a flow straightener just in front of the MAF sensor location. The MAF location has the tubing the exact diameter as the factory tube.......but now that I know the heat-soak information is valid on the FR-S it will be used on my other project vehicle (one less thing to build for it).

BTW, you still looking to get a Drone........the AR Drone 2 I flew at the coffee meet is taking up space......

The new one is almost built, just got the new flight controller in for it.

It's tradition. The bride and groom should not see one another the day of the wedding until the ceremony.

That's easy --- On the wedding day, the groom isn't supposed to see the bride until she walks down the isle! Built in excuse. Go race. "Just get me to the church on time" as the old song says.

Sorry. Didn't see the above posts until I submitted mine.

Thanks for the tips. I'll likely sign up for that event at AMP on the 13th. I have been looking for a reasonably close event this weekend and found a few other upcoming events so I figured I'd make a list.

10/13 Autocross AMP
10/19 Autocross Tempe Diablo Stadium (Porsche Club)
10/19 HPDE AMP (ProAutoSports)
10/19-20 Autocross Marana Regional Airport
10/26 HPDE AMP (Porsche Club)

I don't know how open the porsche club is to other makes, but I'm interested in their autocross and track day.

I know some of you engineering types are gonna love this kickstarter project

Its based in TEMPE as well so that would be cool to become a tester, Pretty bad ass

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...=home_location

Not as simple a clean of a design as Michelins airless tire design put pretty cool either way.
