Built the bottom one to be a lighter, smaller brother to the top one.

Nice looking rifles. I started on my 3rd build and so far got a matching forge Mega Arms upper/lower with charging handle. I'm stuck if I wan't to stick with another 223/556 or go with something different since I already have 2 of 223/556.

Any suggestions as to which direction I should look into, fellas? Pros and cons would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to build a longer distance rifle with bipods.

18-20" barrel, rifle length gas system, free float rail, nice scope on top. That's basically the formula I used for the top one (in 18"). With it, I can hit 6" steel plates at 400-500 yds, and gongs are cake at 600 yds.

I have a full build thread about it on CalGuns: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=678396

How does this affect your grouping? Hehe

I look hard at the fn, but like you am happy with my hk p30s in .40 tho trigger on my p99 Walther 9 is far better and it shows in my groups. Part may be smaller caliber, too I suppose.

Thank you, sir. I'm basically set on 18 or 20" barrel. It depends on which one pops up first. The same goes for the free float. I'm thinking fortis rail. As far as scopes go, I'm leaning towards nightforce. This is going to be a reaaally slow build. Thanks again!

If you are thinking a 3.5-15 power NF, I have one for sale in the Calguns marketplace. Asking $1415 shipped. :happy0180:

Thanks for the link. The scope will most likely be the last purchase for the build. Nice looking scope though.

I see an XDM 4.5 and 5.25 there. I absolutely love my XDM 4.5 in 9mm, and I'm probably more accurate with that than any other non-1911 pistol. Always wanted to pick up a 5.25.

If you're looking into a trigger upgrade, the PRP drop-in is fantastic. I have it in both the XDM9 and my XD45.

Question about the XDM. I had an XD and wanted to upgrade it to an XDM, but I was told they were not legal in CA by a Cabela employee in Reno, NV (I haven't really researched much into it). As such, I got a Sig instead. Is it a hard process to obtain an XDM in CA? They're really nice to shoot.

XDM 9mm is all I have thus far. Been Eyeballing some AR's lately though. They are actually some on the shelves now that I can buy. The gun craze seems to have died down enough that I am finally seeing them back on the racks long enough to be purchased.

The employee was wrong. I live in CA and as you can see, I have two XDMs.

You just have to find an FFL that does SSE and you can buy pretty much any gun that is not on the roster.
