I got this for free by saying that I didn't want it on the car, so I too have this factory option.

Anyone think theres any merit to adding a better midpipe to make the axleback into a real catback?

Also forgive my ignorance of exhaust systems, if I just said something stupid, please teach me so I don't sound dumb in the future

I really wish I got the full-blown Borla cat-back set-up (like your dealership does). That is what I thought I was paying for when I bought the car.

If you didn't get what you paid for the call Scion/USA and b!tch about it buddy.

Here's some pictures of what the folks on GA (and it seems like FL) got. I am writing up a complaint to Scion since Southeast Toyota has no contact form or e-mail.

You can see that the exhaust tips look the same, then you look underneath....

wow, that sure does look like the factory mid-pipe. it looks like they are buying components and building it themselves

Yeah you got screwed that doesn't look like the ones my dealer got from port.

I would ask for my money back or the parts I was suppose to get.

Exactly what I just sent Scion. Since there was no attachment bit though I told them I could supply pictures if desired.

@PSORngr it looks like southeast toyota stopped offering the Borla exhaust as I can't find the dealer link anymore.

I was going to post a link for you showing the exhaust but it's not listed anymore.

I wonder if it's because of this axle-back vs cat-back business. I guess we'll see what Scion says. I'll report in when I hear from them (I assume Monday).

Ok, update time.

Scion got back to me yesterday saying sorry yada, yada, yada. I was contacted by the dealer today and told I'd be contacted by Southeast Toyota. My current understanding is that Southeast Toyota has acknowledged that it is in fact an axle-back, which is why it is no longer listed on their site, and will be removing the system and giving me my $699 back.

If that happens my current plan is to reject that and make sure I get $699+taxes I paid and I will be purchasing the Borla cat-back myself and telling them to install it for me free of charge for wasting my time.
Or @TRD-X I'll tell them to get the real cat-back exhaust from your dealership and replace my exhaust with it since your dealership is also Southeast Toyota.

Its a port installed option, installed by south east toyota, its really not a factory option. So it very easily could have been different between a couple of batches of cars if they ordered a different part number due to a shortage or and F-Up in shipping / ordering.

We should try to aggregate more information on this matter. Id really appreciate the full catback version, but I would need some solid evidence and photos of the other exhaust to convince dealers to make the swap

Your solid evidence is the picture of the exhaust on the Borla website and their official videos and then the exhaust under your car. Really can't get any more solid than that.

That said, it sounds like at this point SE Toyota will just be removing the axle-back system, installing the OEM exhaust, and refunding money. I plan on getting more out of them (get them to install the real Borla cat-back for free). You can buy the real Borla cat-back off amazon for the same price that the axle-back cost from the dealership (at least mine, $699).

Fair enough. If we have some members who successfully get their refunds, I think we can leverage that fact. So if you succeed, let everyone else know
