I'll second those comments.

My full Blown kit should hopefully be ready very soon. Looking forward to getting it installed and feeling some decent power. Stock, my BRZ is a dog.

It makes more noise than "go".

@pmccut and king_tut - thank you so much for sharing the boost chart.

I am far from an expert, but looking at the graphs, its not 100% clear that the turbos are out of steam. What I do see is the linearity I would expect from a manual boost controller or the tuner's programming of a EBC on wastegate's state.

At the lower RPMs, we want the wastegates completely shut to improve spool. That is "easier" to do with the combination of wastegate spring tension and the wastegate controller's duty cycle.

As you run up in RPM, you are producing more exhaust pressure, which in turn should spin your turbos faster - assuming the wastegates are still completely shut. You should be building more boost. But on the graphs, its tapering boost. A manual boost controller, will hold the same input to the wastegate since its a static device. But (stating it again), its harder to hold the wastegates shut at 7000 rpm vs. 4000 rpm, so it could be creeping open higher in the revs, which would give us a boost taper.

Being in or out of the optimal VE of the turbo is a different question. If you're out of the VE, you'll have boost, but its so hot, you're not getting any additional power (and in turn back off the boost until you see the same power output - less stress for the same power).

Let me know if I'm off on anything ... I guess, my only last question is, did you guys try to run more boost and did it make any more power?

thanks again ... much appreciated with all your sharing!!!

No recommendations for NOLA, but you can make the 3 hour drive to my house to have it installed.

All I can tell you is that with just wastegate spring, MBC, and EBC I have had boost taper off in the upper RPM range. I have yet to see any GT2871R plot or AVO plot that doesn't.

That's kind of you to offer him that. D3 in Houston is the closest shop I've found on this side of LA that I would trust installing a turbo.

I've followed your build thread Tut you and sportsguy have some nice Twins.

I'd basically be ripping your entire build off so it makes sense to use your garage as well!

The parts list is short. It's everything included in the FBM base kit. Upgraded turbo, and upgraded injectors/fuel pump for the E85. ACT clutch. Cusco motor mounts and catch can. FBM 3" exhaust. Nothing done to the diff other than running some good Motul fluid for now.

Somewhere down the road, I'll be looking into having FBM build the motor, upgrading the rear axle and tranny, and possibly adding the larger radiator and an oil cooler.
