LOL. Nope, and I was one of the few people that kept stock mufflers on his Harleys over the years.

lol. First car I ever drove was a 307 V8 Nova. Me and a buddy with his mom's car. First thing we did was pop the hood, take off the air cleaner cover and . Great fun until we got caught. Think we were 14.

I don't like the growler. I don't mind the noise, but it's just a shitload of ugly under the hood.

I'm keeping it.. It's all part of the intended experience.. It's not obnoxious and is only noticeable at WOT..

The new 2014 Jaguar XFR-S will boast a 305 cubic inch, 32 Valve, supercharged & intercooled, DOHC, aluminum block & heads and direct injected MONSTER of a V8 engine. The article says the engine will pump out 550 HP @ 6500 rpm & 502 lb-ft torque @ 2500 rpm.

So now your wondering what the hell this has to do with our beloved Scion FR-S's. Well, aside from many of the gapping differences i.e. price, target market, country of origin, etc, etc. I find it quite interesting that this car too, also contains "A symposer pipes intake noise into the cabin." Reference to the article is at this link:
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...t-drive-review

I was rather convinced on removing my sound generator as I felt it was a rather worthless item, but now I am thinking "hey, wait a minute, if a $100,000 550 horse semi-supercar has one, shit, maybe I should too."

I suppose it all depends on what crowd you wish to assimilate with...

I'm all for intake noise, whether piped in or not. If you like the sound, why change it?

At least it's real intake noise, unlike the soundaktors on VWs or stereo-engine noises on BMWs.

That is where I am at too. If I do decide to get an intake, I will likely delete the sound generator too. If I leave it all stock, the generator stays!

The sound generator from a V8 will always sound better than a boxer 4. Anything under 8 cylinder sounds like crap to me.

keep for warranty.

don't count on putting it back on if you need warranty work, you could be on a trip or need towed off the interstate straight to the dealer.

How does it have anything to do with warranty?

A proper V8 and exhaust don't need no stinkin sound generator...
This weird ass boxer motor doesn't sound like your typical grocery getter 4 banger.. It's not bad actually..

Its just advice, any mods and the some dealers are refusing warranty. .

I think it would take a good expensive lawyer to prove the sound tube delete doesn't void the engine's warranty.

Plug it and see if you like it.
Personally I don't see the point of removing it unless you hate the sound.

The sound is not that noticeable and the "weight reduction" is negligent. YOu won't gain even a tenth of a horsepower removing this little rubber tube.
You'll lose more wweight from your car taking a big dump.

Seems some dealers are looking for any excuse to void the warranty..
Removing this device, as harmless and unrelated as it is, can just make them suspicious that other mods have been done..
Why technically it won't affect anything and should not be an issue.. Some dealers seem eager to void the warranty rather than embrace it..

one thing i miss from my old 08 is250 was the intake noise. i had the joeZ intake on that car and when you stepped on it from 3-5k rpms the car sounded amazing from inside the cabin! now the FRS sounds like its sucking air from straws.. the sound generator made it sound ok but nothing compared to the growl i got from the IS
to make matters worse, i switched to the perrin intake tube which removes the hole for the sound generator piping... now my car is too quiet lol
I thought about getting an exhaust but i havent found one that is not obnoxiously loud. i really dont wanna sound like a 19yo ricer with a fartcan. i did my share of loud exhausts back in the day and im too old for that crap now.
i wish toyota/subaru would have made an exhaust with the tone of the Civic SI.. not loud but with a nice tone in it.
