I don't mind the heavy door (not even heavy to me) but the hinge and the way they won't stay open unless you open all the way sucks. Open the door halfway in a tight spot and the door closes on your leg.

id have to say the 86 doors are much lighter then an mkv golf if the wind or it does get to the point where it stays open and it shuts on your leg you will certainly know the 86 doors seem much lights and are much easier to open

Nope. I've had six cars and only the Subarus I've owned suck at holding the door open. This is often known as 'character'.

I named mine Christine cause she attacks me with the door when I try to get out.
It's almost like she's saying, "no! stay in and drive me!"

I agree, I hate that ish. My drive way is on a slight slope and every day when I get out its like a balancing act trying to get my door to stay open so I don't have his slam on my leg.

Door really isn't all that heavy though.

I agree about the SC300/400. One of my friends has a Soarer and the interior is gutted and the doors are still heavy.

Not so much heavy.. But they has very weak detents which don't do a good job at holding the door open.

The doors can be very heavy. My gfs driveway slopes on one side so the passenger side is on an upward angle. She's a very small girl (less than 90 pounds). She can barely open the doors to get out. It's cute and I annoy her by laughing at her attempts to get out of my car.
