Cup holder when it needs to be charged. I use the stock nav/headunit for everything. I actually have no complaints about the nav, and I just use a USB flash drive for my music (Sirius selection is terrible).

I use the Mountek CD Slot Mount for my Galaxy Note (5.3" screen) running CM10.1 JellyBean. Fits great in the slot, and holds my phone tight and securely in either portrait or landscape orientation.

I still have the ability to use Bluetooth audio and call streaming, and any other GPS related apps without fumbling with my phone.

I use the Quad Lock phone case. Been using for awhile and its awesome. Isn't loose and it stays at whatever angle i keep it. Upwards or sideways.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EStzrlFl4Hc"]Quad Lock iPhone Bike, Car and Wall mount - YouTube[/ame]

I mount it between the navi screen and dash, on the right. Still within reach and it fits perfect so my phone is not on top of anything scratching etc while car is moving.

Does anyone know of any guides/pictures/instructions on how to run the cable from the glove box to the A-Pillar? I don't want to go ripping things apart unnecessarily!

The problem with so many car mounts is that they're overly-complicated or bulky. I finally found one that is very minimalist and works great in our cars. It's called the Kenu Airframe that I picked up at the Apple Store and it works great with my i5 with case but should work with other smartphones too. You mount it into your a/c vents, and it's spring loaded, keeping the phone held sturdily.

One bonus is that it can act as a kickstand when not mounted in my car. Check it out!

I have this as well but does not seem to fit so nicely in our vents. Previous car worked much better. Can you post a side shot, looks like it does not lay flat?

This looks to be a bad idea for the winter when I have the heat on. My phone gets hot enough already...

Here is how I have mine. By no means is this a permanent solution, but it works well and keeps the phone out of the way while still being accessible.

The mount is a cheap one from Best Buy with a flexible arm and a suction cup. It is stuck to the little triangle window on the driver side door. After many tiny adjustments I have it so when the door opens it clears the A pillar and when the door is closed it rests firmly against the dash to minimize vibration.
