What size snow tires? 205/55R16? If so, did you find the car a little loosey-goosey on the highway when there was any cross-wind? I got my steelies and tires through Tire Rack, but I'm not exactly sure what the offset is, but regardless I wonder if it's just that the tires are even narrower than the already-small OEM tires.

Did the dealer get this worked out? I have the same issue, the popping/thunking is rather severe on startups. I keep trying to capture it with my camera phone but it is very inconsistent and not always repeatable.

I haven't taken it in yet. Given Michigans weather, It's very inconsistent. Everything I've seen points to it being normal though. I've also been told that it happened on a guys Impreza. It may just be a quirk or the boxer engine.

205/55R16 sounds right. I do virtually no highway miles and even less in winter. Under 55mph on Woodward/Telegraph etc I noticed nothing like that though.

Why would it? I drove quite a bit on the hwy last winter. On 205/55/16 Xi3's. In decent weather there were no issues. When it's icy, it would get dicey. I would not recommend disabling TC, or even putting it in sport mode for bad weather hwy driving.

EDIT: listed my Xi3's wheel/tire set for sale, with lots of life left.

It was a poorly written question (I think I was a little drunk when I wrote that). I often felt the front of the car shifting at speeds over 65 on the highway when there was enough of a cross-wind, and having to correct just so to try to keep it tracking straight. I have 205/55R16 Hakkapeliitta R--it's possibly just the tire and not the width of the tread patch, but I wondered if, the offset of the wheel was more positive than it should be, coupled with a narrower tire, might explain why.

I've been buried at work, so I haven't had any time to do any additional thinking or planning for the BBQ.

Saw a black BRZ parked at Building 23 on the Milford Proving Grounds yesterday. Also, crossed a white FRS (I think, I wasn't paying attention!) on the way to the MPG today, around 1. To the person who waved to me (I was in the WRB BRZ), HALLOO! :happy0180:

Spotted a WRB BRZ headed North on I-275 around Ford Rd about an hour or so ago. I was headed south in my Grandfathers car.

On the topic of my grandfathers car, I've realized that the BRZ has spoiled me when it comes to handling. My parents Ford Escape and my grandfathers Ford Taurus just felt too light and unpredictable. Some turns that would have been perfectly fine in the BRZ given the road and weather conditions caused understeer in the other cars. Not bad enough that anyone could tell from looking at me driving but I could feel the tires slip.

I also kept trying to press the non-existant clutch in.. It felt good to drive my BRZ again after that.

I feel ya. Been driving a Kia Rio all week and that thing is aweful! Also hit the non existant clutch every time i got in. Can't wait to be back in my BRZ.

I am horrible at getting in my FR-S after a week of driving the legacy and wondering what is wrong before I remeber to step on the clutch.
