vortech cold air?

has anyone else done this? i know pure automotive is doing this but haven't heard anything about it in a little bit.

Why would i do this? Well, it cleans up the engine bay a bit and MAYBE a few horses which I'm not even worried about, but it allows me to have more room for my perrin oil cooler hoses since they are in a tight squeeze between the vortech reservoir, gt86 euro headlights, and the charge pipe.

any input would be great! thanks guys!

The lack of an intake vacuum line isn't really bad news, I set it up to vent to atmosphere. If anything it prevents fuel/oil air being sucked into the blower. The main gain is room in the engine bay, horsepower gains are mostly secondary.

Also I can hear the blower a lot better now

Sorry noob question but how did you vent to atmosphere just left the hose loose?

Put a filter on the vacuum hose. In my case this is off of a crawford AOS, if you have no aos or catch can then you would do it right on the line from the block (near the a/c pump).

A small downside is that at idle you can sometimes smell a faint fuel smell. racecar

i wonder if there is a filter small enough for that fitting that sits right on the block.

I would probably need some adapter to fit on that hose since the diameter is pretty big. I don't have the aod. At the same time I still need this kit but no one else has chimed in and haven't heard from pure automotive

If you're talking about the breather line going from the engine to our air box, you could simply recirculate it back into the air filter. We do it on our 350Z supercharger kits.

http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/images/50.pdf
Scroll down to Page 5, Fig. 4-e.

All you have to do is remove the 90 degree barbed fitting that goes into the rubber grommet on FR-S air box & pop it into the top of the new air filter. You'll need to drill a hole into the black rubber part of the filter, but it's very easy.

oh! hahaha that's fairly simple! i would just need an extension of the hose to go to the air filter since the hose probably wouldn't be long enough. not bad!! thank you good sir!!
