I'm curious how the deposit works. Do the dealers cash your checks immediately or just hold them until the purchase date?

They will cash it within a couple days, and when this magical car eventually arrives you can test drive it , and if you dont enjoy the drifting in the dealership parking lot you get your money back....

I know because they cashed my deposit back in december before i was selected as one of the first 86....

Actually they should not have cashed your check. I have ordered many cars and put a check as deposit and they never cashed the check until I bought the car.

I guess scion rolls different.

It's fully refundable...so it doesn't matter when they cash it really. I did it by credit card so it was instant. Not having $500 worth of interest for a few months is gonna kill me!

Hum, interesting. My dealership specifically told me that they would not cash the check until I take possesion of the car. That was two weeks ago and it hasn't been cashed!!!

I am not a first 86 winner, but got some information (not much) from a couple of dealers and wanted to share that with you guys.

1. BRZ - The dealer I am in contact with told me that Subaru had notified that the dealer would get a couple of car each month (meaning, the production/allocation will be VERY limited). The dealer is now taking pre-orders and there are 4 on the list now. The dealer will take a $1,000 deposit. They still do not have any information of the price or the release date.
2. FRS - The dealer I am in contact with told me the release date would be sometime in May. No price information.

I have a White auto comming also. Getting it from Rodland Scion in Everett WA. My sales man Mike Massey told me about the first 86.

I got a call yesterday from the dealer and he informed me I was on the list of 86. Already gone down and signed the agreement and put down the $500.00. I am getting an asphalt with automatic from Asbury Auto Group Scion. yippee

One of the original 86 dropped off the list and I moved up into their slot. I was originally on the waiting list.
