The Pioneer AVIC-Z3 in my STi doesn't use a speedo sensor and it operates just fine. I bypassed the e-brake lockout on that unit as soon as i bought it.

No point missed here. I've read every thread I could find related to this topic and the switch sounds like a temporary hack until the real solution is uncovered (like the Canadian software hack).

That no one has checked the voltage of that circuit bothers me.

I did a bit more research and I assume the VSS connection is only there to calculate trip time. I may just go ahead and cut it tonight and see how the GPS handles it. If it only seems to affect trip time, that's no big deal because I ignore those totally inaccurate time readings in favor of distance, which the GPS antenna handles.

the VSS signal will ultimately produce more a more accurate GPS position as your vehicle moves, this is especially handy when you are going through tunnels where GPS signal is lost, with the VSS working you will continue at the signalled speed along the road, some units take this further with a gyro steering angle sensor, my old BMW work work fine in undercover carparks for example even without a signal.

If you had read every thread you would know you can just cut it and use your GPS that way with less functionality. no point messing around with VSS signal voltages to create a fake signal as that wouldn't achieve anymore than just cutting the VSS wire.

just cut the wire and see how you go

Reading back through, it looks like some versions of the software actually crap out if the VSS is cut. My software version is this.

Navi
15:50/30.07 9.2.2.250040
Audio
08,07,2012 Ver.44.1004

Does anyone know what the latest US software version is? I'm going to hold off on cutting my wire until I know more. I'll probably do the e-brake cable this weekend since that seems to be a good fix across the board. Page 319 of the wiring diagram (http://www.ft86club.com/files/BRZwiringi.pdf) shows it's just a switched ground connection.

I did the parking break and vehicle speed sensor switch today. Unfortunately, the GPS knows I am moving and is disabling the options in motion.

Sucks.

Need a bit of clarification as to how to wire the camera.

Do we want power to the camera at all times we have ACC power on?
I'm sure the unit has a connection to power a camera. Just need to find it.

I connected power to the camera as suggested by tapping into wire #3 on the 10 pin connector and ground on the other side.

I'm not sure which connections are video signal and video ground in this drawing:

OK. Never mind. Tthis page explains everything pretty well.

Has anyone found how to upgrade the firmware on the Fujitsu FA601us head unit?

I am wondering if the latest firmware will solve my bluetooth problems.

Mine works pretty much flawlessly with my nexus 4 on 4.3. What phone and issues are you having?
