I live in a town with alot of posers, and most people in my town live on a rather low income. I don't mean this to be offensive, because most of my friends don't make much either, but I say it to paint the picture. Alot of "ghetto" kids and adults in my town drive old rusty Civics and the like with big ass wings, 3-4 different colors of paint and/or spray paint, and loud ass fart cans... with slow ass cars.
Anyway, 2 days after I bought my 10 Series, I was on my way to the store. A white Civic decided to rev up at me. I laughed a bit, and let him launch ahead of me. I ended up getting behind him a little further up because I needed to be in that lane. He had a sticker covering the majority of his rear window, that said "uMadBro" ...I laughed a bit more, wondering why anyone would be mad about a car worth about $2,000 ![]() I've had the car for almost a month now, and I've had everything from minivans and trucks to Corvettes trying to "ricer flyby" me on 35mph roads at twice the speed limit when I'm going 40 mph. I just let them cruise by me... I have nothing to prove. I do notice alot of people turning their heads when I drive by though. I've only seen like 3-4 FRS/BRZ's within a 30-ish mile radius in the past month, so most people probably have no idea what I'm driving yet. Funny thing is, I haven't even hit the 1,000 mile mark on my car yet, i.e I have yet to take the car past 4,000 rpm's. I can't wait to take the car to a track though, and really get to feel what the FR-S has to offer. After my warranty expires in 3 years, I'm most likely going to upgrade to a Turbocharger setup with a low boost map for the street (to retain my mpg's) and a high boost map for the track. Had a last Gen civic sedan with a fart can and smoked tails coast alongside me for a second and then floor it and try to take off earlier...
.... Too bad it was in a 25mph school zone and we were about 1000 feet from a red light. He ultimately got stuck in a lane with a huge line of cars and I pulled ahead and got on the freeway. No idea what it is about Hondas around here but they are the only ones that try to race me. Sent from my HTC One |

Out of curiosity, would our cars be faster than a c250 sedan/coupe, IS 250, or 320i-328i coupe? I've had multiple 328i coupes try to race me, although I try not to bite, it's tempting.

It all depends on what kind of race you're talking about. Mindless 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile straight shot? Auto-X, sprint, off-road, and many others. Here are some specs if you're thinking about just straight from complete stop. Of course everyone drives different and will show different result. Stock specs: The twins: 1/4 mile 14.8 sec c250: 1/4 mile 15.99 sec. IS250: 1/4 mile 14.14 sec. 328i: 1/4 mile 16.87 sec.

I just drove a 2400 km round trip and the amount of cars that did ricer fly-bys on the highway was hilarious, there was some valid pull up slowly and slow down and stare then realize they are holding up the fast lane and floor it to take off, but mostly people would floor it and whip by and cut back into my lane with maybe 1/2 car length space to prove a point... mostly I just thought to myself... wow sorry about your penis being so small, hope that made it bigger for ya buddy.

That's way, way too slow for a 328. From Motor Trend, for a 2012 328i:
0-60: 5.5 sec 0-100: 14.8 Quarter: 14.1 @ 98.2 I might believe that number for a 320, but the 328 has a 240hp turbo engine with a really nice powerband. Last edited by chrisl; 09-17-2013 at 04:14 PM. |

Yes. 328i can hit low 14s.

I had a Rastafarian stoner (dreads, big beanie Caucasian gentleman) try to race me in his Saturn sl2. I was going 37 in a 35 so he decides to zoom in front of me and cut me off (hard, almost causes accident). I give him a WTF flash and a honk. I pass him in the slow lane and drive normally. He then tailgates me for about a qtr mile and flashes me multiple times while honking obnoxiously. He pulls up next to me gives me the "i'm going to kill you" mean mug/words behind window and notices myself and my two large friends (former college basketball/football players) in the car and decides to concede. I love my car, but sometimes it draws the a-holes out.
A similar situation to the first happened just a day or two before. An EF civic hatch tries to rev up to me at a light. I was driving extremely slow because of the undercover trooper to the right of me. The driver (HS/younger kid) decides he's going to not only cut me off, but the trooper as well. A second later the trooper turns his lights on and pulls the kid over. PRICELESS. P.S.- the guy sitting in the back had to sit sideways, if you're wondering. LOL |
