Plants and animals are made out of smaller living units called cells. Evolution is real. Babies are made from fucking. If you stop eating and drinking, you will die.

You're welcome.

I go to a somewhat highly ranked school so most of the time my resume actually gets read when I send it out (not always), but move down to #60 on the US News ranking and you might as well shred your resume while it's printing. Going to the usual shitty state college for the usual kid who didn't really care about school ever is basically paying a lot of money for shits and giggles, partying, and half-hearted relearning of high school material.

I can see where your coming from but its all about what you make for your self no ?

I went to a Historically Black Univ (not even on any list) called Bowie State (BSU LOL). I had the best oppurtunities of my life and with a Computer Science degree its all about what you make of your self. Creds matter for other things I think like Law and Finance (Wharton)

True, I met some kid from Arizona State who got an IBD analyst position at Goldman (quite remarkable as they typically just suck up a ton of kids from top 10 schools), I met some kid from some state university in Virginia or something who got a job at Google, but for the most part you're locked out of a certain tier of jobs if your school is below rank ~30, and so on. Past some point they won't even let you be the coffee fetcher.

I suppose, just depends on if you really are a go getter or just want to chillax and let things come as they do.

Either way

Car parts should be purchased

Depends on what you're applying for too. Super Duper Rocket Surgeon, probably yes. But I've been looking pretty heavily into a career as a coffee fetcher's assistant, and it looks promising.

These generation articles are like reading horoscopes.

I can't follow trends, everyone's different. It's too easy to generalize things.

Life sucks and you die, it's up to you what you make of it. Internet sucks at giving advice.

So I did. Waste of fucking time. I didn't know what I wanted to do, didn't care, and made bad grades. Now I'm almost 30, just now getting an idea of something I think I might like to do, and have to start on a long path with a hack-job of a GPA.

I think the whole assumed-mandatory "get married, have 2 kids, get a degree, make the most money possible" plan is utter horse shit on the best of days. This isn't the early 1900's when most jobs involved manual labor and a degree pretty much guaranteed you a comfortable lifestyle. Most jobs aren't labor intensive anymore. We have the internet now, and all the things that come from that. You can drop out of high school and get rich as hell. You can also get a degree and be poor as fuck. Now that I'm finally to a point where I actually want to go to college, I'm simultaneously realizing college isn't nearly as necessary as they made me believe for so long.
^ FUCKING THIS ^

I'm right there with you man.

Trade schools. Industry. Skill sets that can be used...those get jobs. Degrees are nice decorations.

Whenever I run into old friends we always end up having conversations about college/education/jobs and we always lead to this exact same answer.

Funny thing is I had to look for about 6 months before getting brought in somewhere, which is good, but it sure as hell is a long time when you aren't making any money.

Yes. It sucks your degree didn't get you somewhere, I understand that. However that doesn't mean that you don't need to bust ass to move on. Yes it sucks that you probably can't go back to school without more debt on top of what you already have.

Worst part of it is, my girlfriend gives me this shit too. She's only had temporary jobs since graduating as she got a degree in history with no teaching cert. Most of the time it gets to that point when I continue to tell her she needs to manage her finances better which means she can't buy all the things she wants.....and it just goes down hill from there.

Man.... to go back and smack my younger self and say, "Just go with your initial instincts."

I would at least be in the same situation, but without school debt.
