There are quite a few groups that are active I can think of quite a few examples like AZPOC, the old Sonoran Muscle Car Group, Desert Street Cars (they do regular dyno and track days at Wilcox), AZFT, AZFBA, ACE and the Gila Bend run they did this year or the Summer Camp run they just finished.
Thats the nice thing about being an enthusiasts, sometimes you find a group that just isn't what you wanted but most of the time there is a group that really enjoys getting together and spending time together in some fashion.
