I couldn't find the cheap stuff at Target, gonna just order it online and try it.

But I suspect because of how thin I am and how the stock belt barely holds me in even when tightened (I tried the tighten-then-move-seat technique) that I'm going to have to go with the Schroth harness.

I ordered the basic locking clip to try it out.

I have a feeling this isn't going to work... I really roll around in these seats a lot, its kind of surprising.

I've been using the cg-lock for 5 years and really liked it, but I don't find the latest model fits the FR-S seat belt very well.
No matter how hard I tighten the screws it still slips off the buckle pretty easily. Also the thumb lever sticks out further than the old design and I've hit my funny bone on it a couple times.

Same here. I couldn't get it to stop sliding off the buckle and ended up sending it back.

For the last couple of seasons I've just twisted the seat belt by the buckle to lock it in place, but if I keep the BRZ I'll probably put a CG Lock in it. I have CG Locks in my Mustang and Miata for autocrossing, and have been very pleased with them in both cars. I've had three Schroth Rallye harnesses in cars for autocrossing over the past 10-12 years, including currently in my Mini Cooper, and have been pleased with them, but for the money I'll just stick with the CG-Lock.

I just had an idea. The stock belts are really bothering me how loose they are and I just discovered why...

The stock driver side seat belt latch is like 2" taller than the passenger side latch! IE it sits REALLY tall and someone skinny like me the belt attaches at a weird angle on that side.

I think I'm going to try swapping it for the passenger side latch because its so much shorter and will hold my skinny ass in place. Any possible downside to this?

This is what I've been doing as its the only way to really get the belt tight enough. The other methods will help however.

I would have installed my 5 point but there is no safe way to install without welding reinforcements into the shit metal

This is what I'm talking about with the buckles. The driver side is significantly longer. I can't swap them due to wiring so I wonder if a rhd or jdm option might be viable?

This is how the driver side buckle sits on me:

This was after I swapped the buckles:

I really wish there was a way to keep it like this... I'm browsing through stock photos and it looks like the RHD buckles are the same height

Ok, tested out the Child Seatbelt Lock:

Its quite effective! I think I'm going to stick with this for now.

However, it does a good job showing my other issue with the belts in this car, the too-tall-of-seatbelt-buckle on the driver side...

Note how high the belt is, how far it is from my actual waist/body:

The lock keeps the other side completely tight around my waist, but because the belt buckle sits so tall it doesn't do the same on the side with the buckle:

The Shroth harness is the ultimate solution here, but I'm not willing to spend that money right now. This should work for now too.

Looks tight in the waist but loose across your body correct? I find the chest needs to be extremely tight so your arms can remain relaxed for the most steering control, especially when braking.

Chest is about the same as before. I can do the belt lock method thing and slight the seat back and get that to be tight. But the bolsters on the seat are supportive enough... (I tested it with some, spirited driving to make sure it improved steering tactility :P )

To get the chest properly tight you really do need a harness...
