FREE* Radar Detector Mirror Mount

I just finished my DIY mirror mount and think it looks better than anything I have seen for sale (may not be as sturdy though). I did everything with items I had around the house.

**do this at your own risk, I am not an electrician and I do not know what permanent damage this can do to your radar detector**

Items needed:
Bike Reflector Mount

Something to fill the gap betweeen the bracket and the mirror. I wrapped mined in velcro zip ties.

A drill to make a mounting hole in your radar detector

A medium size screw, make sure to open your radar and test fit as to not hit the circuit board.

Step 1: Remove reflector from Bracket

Step 2: Wrap velcro zip ties around mirror base to give the bike mount a snug fit

Step 3: Open Radar Detector and make sure there is ample room to mount the screw

Step 4: Pre Drill a hole for your screw into the plastic casing

Step 5: Re assemble radar

Step 6: Attach the radar to the mount with your screw

Sorry it was dark in the garage :/

Lastly anyone with electrical knowledge, will that screw mess with the circuit or radar? should i cover it with electrical tape inside (its not touching anything)?

Depending on the clearance, the screw shouldn't effect anything. But, for good measure, I'd put something between it and the electronics. Electrical tape will work, but in a hot car, it can get kinda messy. It does have the advantage of not causing static when applying.

Great idea, however (at least in states where this is allowed).

Bike reflector is a good idea. I'd try to velcro the detector to that base, so it can be removed, or adapt a larger base for more surface area.

I was lucky enough to have a former tool and die maker with his own machine shop for a father, so he machined a couple mounts for my V1. When the suction cup brackets broke, it screwed to the machined mount, I used a rapid prototype machine to make some new pieces for velcro. If I didn't have those sources, I'd be looking at bike reflector mounts!

It's a great idea, regardless of the source. I was looking at mic mounts, and a lot of other things, before deciding to start from scratch, and a bike reflector wasn't one of them.:happy0180:

This thread is old as hell but I'm bringing it back. This is the coolest shit I've seen in the last ten pages. I've discontinued use on my valentine1 because the suction cups do not like hot car and I constantly walk out to it dangling. I was just on the interstate today thinking of how to make a mirror mount. Little did I know the answer was lying in a bike reflector. Thank you for the post!
