That seems about right IMO. I don't think he should have been criminally prosecuted as some suggested, but it's good he was disqualified from the series and given a fine + points on his race license. Hopefully the driver he hit was somehow made whole for the damages.

We get people around here who believe in that 'win-at-all-costs' style of racing in both karts and on circuits. I've been injured twice by people like that. The stewards giving out a slap on the wrist here or there doesn't do much to heal my injuries so I simply don't race any more. Just not worth it if you have to share a track with reckless idiots like that.

Guy in the vid summed up what I think of those types quite succinctly in the end. Hope he was OK.

Track events in Dubai are like that? I presume you are an expat?

That's why I like the point-to-pass at HPDE's. Comparing lap times is much safer than wheel to wheel.

The douche should have to forfeit his car to the guy whose car he wrecked.

There's a really good chance that his car didn't need to wreck... He had a chance to put the red miata in the wall.

Part A: The driver should have realized that the red miata was willing to drive like this after he drove the white miata off track. He should have taken this into consideration before making his pass... why do I say this?

Part B: WATCH HIS HANDS. He's making a pass on a dangerous driver while only holding the steering wheel with one hand. Once the red miata makes contact with him, his steering wheel yanks 90 degrees to the right (clockwise rotation) through his hand which is what drives him off track. He doesn't catch the steering wheel until his car is already in the grass!!!

I've watched enough racing on TV, enough in car video, and done enough actual racing for myself to know that holding the steering wheel tight with both hands when making a pass is an absolute must for this reason specifically. It's pretty common knowledge that when the rear quarter meets the front quarter of another car, the front quarter almost always has the advantage.

Watch it again what do you think?

p.s. The driver of the red miata needs to be banned from racing and he also deserves an ass whoopin.

Completely agree. In fact if I'm not making a gear change both hands are firmly on my wheel at all times.

There is a reason they call them Spec Piñatas.
