Got it, I just saw someone else link it in another thread, and the write-up looked pretty in-depth. From what I understood before that our cars were one good tune away from handling E85 glad to see it's an isolated case.

This looks nice. Once the data logging is there, it will definitely have me interested.

I didn't see any info on this while skimming through the thread and the website. But is there / will there be a way to bring in a wideband AFR signal to the device for data logging? I'd like to be able to tune my car while logging real-world values on the road as well as using a dyno.

And is the tablet necessary? Or could the software be made to work on a laptop using the same cable used with the tablet?

I'll be following this thread for sure.

Yes, the dip was reduced in both duration and severity by advancing the exhaust came. Running 40deg of advance down there. Looks like the factory mapping makes some concessions in that respect. Perhaps for fuel economy or emissions.

I'll be tuning some stock header/stock exhaust cars tonight this week on the dyno. So then I'll be able to quantify the differences in mapping requirements between a stock and fully modified set-up. I agree that the first tuning step would be advancing the exhaust timing (and intake). Seems to pick up great power with no real downsides that we care about.

I'm glad you found the same thing. My first tune attempt was also met with marginal success when I tuned for AFR that was clearly too lean for this engine. It really needs to be rich in the low end/midrange. Especially with the VVT changes. Without enough fuel, the engine will sound hollow and not make max torque.

I'm looking forward to calibrating the E85 map. Thank you for sending me good starting points for injection calibration. It should save a lot of time!

Cheers,
shiv

Mad_SB wasn't the only person who asked a question.

Specifically mine was does the stage2 tune with mods show less tip-in knock than stock ?

Thanks

I've asked a couple of questions and been ignored so I won't waste my keyboard strokes asking any more, which is a shame.

At this time, no. The Ecutek tune locks the ECU from being read. We are working on a solution for this issue. We should have it soon.

So does this means if you have ever used Ecutek you can not use this at all right now or does it mean if you flash back to stock with Ecutek you can use this now?
Disappointed in reading this. I thought this question had been asked early on in the other thread, and it was confirmed that EcuTek users could swap over. I now understand why they haven't done any testing on forced induction cars since we are almost all running EcuTek currently.

With the permission of the owner, we we able to read an EcuTek file off his car this morning. It also turns out that it compatible with our current XDF file which means it can be edited. And boy does it need to be edited according to Shiv. He went off on it as if someone insulted his mother.

So I think EcuTek owners looking for custom tuning/tune fixing should rejoice.

I just threw some cash at my screen, but it doesn't seem to be working properly.

I will try faxing it next.

On a side note, was the information pulled from the ECUTEK flashed ECU somehow "messy" compared to a stock rom? You mentioned it needed editing...

Not all EcuTek tunes are locked is my understanding. Perhaps the one you pulled was not locked. All I care about is knowing that if I purchase this, I will be able to flash a basemap to it to get my car running so that I can start the tuning process. It sounds like your current process is to get the product and use it to pull the factory ROM file and then mail it to you guys, but I don't have my factory ROM file, I have a modified EcuTek ROM.

Hopefully we can just pull the ECUTEK rom, and do editing from there.
With the creator of the ECUTEK tunes permission, of course....

If so, this is exactly what I was looking for.

I don't have a factory ROM either. I talked to shiv about this last week - we should be able to get a stock ROM from FullBlown or whomever tuned the car, flash it on, then start from there with the openflash tablet. I'm down for dyno tuning my car with shiv..

My Full Blown basemaps are not locked, and I got an OEM rom from either LJ or Visconti so that I could datalog my car when it was still stock as a comparison prior to installing my fuel pump and injectors.

That may be exactly what you get. Unless ecutek makes a change with an upcoming software update. For those who are looking to edit your ecutek file, I recommend not doing any new Ecutek updates to your ECU. I'm not trying to cause problems with ecutek or ecutek tuners. It's just my opinion that the ecutek tune in the customer ecu belongs to them. And since it is theirs, they an do what they want with it.
