MFactory LSD's - Photo's Inside
We got every MFactory LSD in the other day to stock for racers out there like us. Yo worked his magic and shot some photos as well, which can be seen below.
MFactory offers great Final Drive Gear options and also LSD's now for the FRS/BRZ. We run their 4.67 Final Gear in our Vortech car and also have run their LSD's in endurance cars we have raced in the past. Made sense to grab one for the Vortech car as well as we finish out 2013 and think forward to 2014. They offer a 1 Way, 1.5 Way, and 2 Way Metal Plate LSD, and also a Helical LSD that fits in the BRZ and FRS. First Up is the Metal Plate style LSD's. Through the smooth and constant distribution of power to the wheels, the MFactory Metal Plate LSD puts the power-to-the-ground and maximizes your vehicle's traction where conventional Torsen LSD's fail. Available in 1.0 way (Acceleration Only), 1.5 way (Acceleration/Deceleration) and 2.0 way (Acceleration/Deceleration). All MFactory Metal Plate LSD's are set at 60% Lock for Street/Track usage. - Made from imported Japanese Steel - Forged and Cryo-Tempered for unsurpassed toughness - Advanced Shot Peening technology increases surface hardness - Only the highest quality Brighton-Best Hardware is used - Coil Spring preload system ensures minimal power loss and maximum response - Lower initial pressure ensures maximum durability and chatter-free operation - Fully rebuild-able with adjustable lock (60-100%) and option of different cam type - The 1.0 way cam type provides the option to adjust for 2 distinct levels of initial torque transfer Next is the Helical Gain a prominent advantage over the competition with the MFactory Helical LSD. Through the smooth and constant distribution of power to the wheels, the MFactory Helical LSD puts the power-to-the-ground and maximizes your vehicle's traction. A must for any RWD race car, be it Street, Strip or Track! - Made from imported Japanese Steel - Forged and Cryo-Tempered for unsurpassed toughness - Advanced Shot Peening technology increases surface hardness - Designed to withstand the extreme shock loads of competition-level Drag Racing - Advanced gear geometry designed using industry-leading software puts more power to the ground - Only the highest quality Brighton-Best Hardware is used - Maintenance-free Gears eliminates the need for special fluids & rebuilds associated with plate-type LSDs - Lock-free operation ensures no adverse affect to steering response Once we get some time to install on of these in the car we'll post up our feedback. We're headed to the track on the 21st to get some base lines without the LSD and then back in a couple weeks later to see how the LSD helps improve those times. |

Do these handle more power than the stock unit? Are there different uses for each type?

If I have my facts straight the helical is more DD friendly then a tight LSD type.
Plate/clutch LSD's try to keep the wheels locked until turning the car says otherwise Helical/Torsen/Gear Type LSD's act more like an open diff when in a straight line, when slip or a turn is detected torque will be shifted as needed. They do get stumped when a wheel leaves the ground entirely. Torsen is a brand name for a gear type LSD
