@unichipjack

Hey Jack, I was curious. I noticed on the database that all of the maps have a more current date. Do you guys modify the maps regularly, or is this a by product of the database being reuploaded?

So I bought ScionFRSFan's Unichip (should be here shortly), however looking through here I see a lot fo mention of legal trouble with E85 but not that it got resolved and released...

So can anyone confirm for me at this point, are there any E85 tunes available for the FR-S?

Is there a UniChip tune available for the Innovate supercharger?

Cheers

Anyone actually run low octane gas with the unichip? Curious about experiences with regular 87 on the low octane map

JouMaSeHoes... Thanks for the PM.

The only SC we've worked with is the Vortech unit. However, if you contact Bassou at SAC Nelspruit, he'll certainly be able to create a tune for you. He's a very good guy and tuner... bossau@sacnelspruit.com or 013 753 3750.

Please let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Cheers

I have a really annoying one for you Jack, what is going on with the E85 tune?

I have managed to read most of the thread and it seems like its been promised as being almost ready for about a year now. I caught the Legal issues mentioned but maybe you could elaborate.
I say this for multiple reasons, mainly because at this point it looks like users have been promised something thats not going to happen. However another important point is that if we just need to sign a waver saying we accept all liability for said modification using E85 I am sure many of us would be happy to do so, (I know I would) or anything of that nature.

I personally know I enjoy my Unichip and I'm sure many others do, but some have sold their Unichip due to the lack of E85 support that was promised and that should be a concern that gets addressed at this point for all of us.

Thank you.

Personally I think Jack has been pretty upfront about this. They want to bring us E85/FlexFuel but aren't going to unless they can do so in compliance with various laws.

Although this is disappointing to many of this I don't think it's unreasonable. It's clear Jack wants to offer E85 and is still trying to make this happen but is not going to put his business at risk doing so. I can't blame him for that.

Yeah. I have been hard on Unichip on this too, but I can't fault them. They are trying but they want to do it the right way. Few companies are willing to put up with the crap and hoops the government forces you to jump through.

Maybe I did miss a post this is a 45 page long thread but it is an issue especially at this mark.

However this is an aftermarket tuner at the end of the day regardless of it being considered a piggy back or flash tuner the result is the same. The risks are also the same, you can destroy your vehicle should you choose to use this device on your vehicle and load the wrong tune etc.

I have yet to see a tuner that doesn't warn of this upfront, hell even most shops now a days make you sign such statements before taking your car in just for repairs let alone a performance shop.

If we need to sign a release I doubt anyone would complain about it, or if we need to pay more for access to those files and buy the software that allows us to make changes again many would do that.

At the end of the day it was always promised and no one else has an issue providing it that's where the hang up comes along. If something needs to be done legally to release liability then so be it. But the lack of this ability now is a let down for many.

My post has been very professional I am not blaming Unichip nor Jack just trying to find a solution. Unichip has a chance to offer everyone a product at a much lower cost that puts them in a very good position. The more it can do the more appealing it becomes.

You can tune for the unichip that has always been an option. Best part is someone can post it online and let all of us download it as well. BUT I heard someone else was trying to tune for e85 for the unichip and ran into issues. So who knows... I know I have waited for almost 10 months. Can't hurt to wait some more.
