Are you kinda messing the car up? Yes likely so, but thats kinda the price you pay. When you clutch kick you disengage the clutch and reengage at a higher rev to kick the rear out. It does shock the drive line a bit and yes it stresses the clutch but for drifting its essential. Unless you are doing it all the time everywhere you go I wouldnt freak; but this is one of those things where you will mess up shit to do what you love. I'm sure some on the vets on here will add to this. If i'm wrong please correct me, I dont want to spread bullshit.

Never understood why do it on the street when it's not that hard to rent out someone's lot. Sign a waiver, pay the fee, here use my parking lot. Nobody cares if you look like a douche on track but you. We all start somewhere. Ask for help/instruction.

We rented out a baseball field's parking lot. Where I got my first hands-on lesson.

Own the mistakes and learn from them. I leave mine in my vids, nobody's perfect. Plus, then you get to come back later and see how far you've come.

Clutch kicking can do some damage, not just to the clutch. It's one of those necessary evils lol. Launching can do damage. Hard shifts can do damage. Just the nature of the beast. Not going to snap the first correct clutch kick, but it's possible. /shrug.

Spacers are just fine on a drift car.

^Problem is not everybody who owns an open lot is willing to rent it out for some people to slide some cars. Luckily, there are some people out there but I wouldn't necessarily say that those types of available locations are high in quantity.

As stated above, kicking the clutch isn't really good for the car but neither is drifting in general. If you decide to go out and start driving, be prepared. Things are going to wear out faster, things are going to break. Luckily, it seems the only real weak point on these cars are the axles. That's all I've seen anybody break and those cars are really low. I've done 3 events and still no actual breaks.

If you keep the car reletively simple and address the weak points, the car should stay pretty reliable. This is why I'm staying N/A. Going with FI will just put even more stress on components and will mean you're more likely to break something. Not to mention the extra wear and tear on the motor/transmission.

Here's some brief footage from yesterday out at Mineral Wells:

Axles appear to be the common thing people are breaking. Depending, they can just snap completely with no warning, or you will start hearing a clicking from the axles warning you. I have one more event this season coming up, and over the off season / winter I plan to save up for the DSS ones or at least pick up an extra set of stock ones to bring with me to events.

Wheel spacers, you'll be fine. Many people drift and track with spacers without issue. Just be sure they have quality studs. I have seen all the studs break due to cheap spacers using cheap metal for the studs.

Yes, clutch kicking will wear the clutch and anything drivetrain related. Drifting in general will put wear and tear on the car. Any type of driving hard will put wear and tear on the car. This car is low on power so kick away, I myself kick the shit out of mine just to complete and connect one lap at my local track.. and I do countless laps

The DSS axles are seriously huge. My tuner is pretty confident I'm not going to break them but if anyone's going to snap one, it will be me.

I must admit I have had a few little issues here and there with the DSS axles but nothing too major. The first was leaking grease from the cv boot. This was resolved by replacing the (for the lack of the correct name) pinched tight clamps that came on the axles to adjustable clams that can be adjusted or retightened if need be. That seemed to sort that out.

Next issue we found was a small leak of dif oil on the side the original axle broke. I ordered a new dif seal from Toyota and had my tuner replace the faulty one. That seemed to fix the leak. Besides all that they're excellent so far.

How would this help the geometry issue? I believe this only stiffens up the car and helps keep traction.

I just ordered these for the same reasons...

I have them, they dont do anything like subframe risers, they just take slop out of the subframe. This helps clear up bounce when your slam the car low. It really improved ride quality and stability in the rear. Also make the diff noise more obvious which I love,

Alright. Thanks for the clarification. I got confused with the risers.

I'd love to go lower, but the current height I sit at has given me zero problems so far and I want to keep it that way. Once people release products to correct everything, I'll look into lowering a bit more. I can't see myself going anything more than MAYBE an inch lower though.

Low drift cars look rad as hell but I still want to keep the functionality and simplicity of the car. Since I'm getting new knuckles soon, going lower in the front will start causing some big rubbing issues. I already had to raise the front a tad cause of way too much inward rubbing.

On another note, I'm curious to see what else people are running as far as setups/alignments go. I changed mine on Friday and went drifting Sunday and the car was loads better. So much grip the car was very easy to drive hard and be consistent with. Way better compared to when I was running almost -3 in the rear.

-3 camber up front. -1.3 camber in back.
5.9 degrees caster
0 toe up front. 0.07 toe in on rear
215/45s all around
stock motor

Once I get knuckles, I'll probably end up going to -3.5 or so camber up front. With the stock steering though, the -3 got rid of pretty much all the wheel flop. (Notice the front leading edge wheel almost straight up and down at full lock).

You look pretty low to me. What are you wheel/tyre specs again?

Also please share when these knuckles are out.
