Just like Toyota said the Cayman was the benchmark for handling and nothing else in the FR-S. One could argue like you and say"hey this interior and performance isn't up to par with Porsche, what gives". The one thing I love about myself in this thread is that I am being fair to both cars unlike most of the Toyota fanboys in here. I could care less about high grade interiors especially when the base price is around 22k for fucks sake. You obviously don't know what a snob is. How can someone defending a 22k car for not having a luxury interior be a snob? Think about it. Last edited by SUB-FT86; 01-23-2012 at 07:28 AM. |

Also I have defended the GC on two occasions in this thread that doesn't make sense to me.
1. People expected the GC at 182 inches in length/73.4 inches in width to be well under 3,000 lbs with RWD and a inline turbo engine/v6. 2. People expected the GC with RWD(2.0t) at $22,250 to not have hard plastics in the interior. Now am I a fanboy of Hyundai for not understanding these two things? No. I'm just using logic's. I know the GC isn't a car for everyone just like the FR-S and every car in the world isn't either. |

Being "kind of lux" is not the same as being "luxury". And even if he expects too much from the GC (I also expect a nice-ish interior, but by no means premium) - that's no reason for name calling. Let's keep things civil, ok?
![]() No one expects the GC to be lighter; it just isn't. |

Kunzite you must have missed a couple pages. People wanted it to be under 3k lbs. Also find me a brand new RWD turbocharged sports coupe for 22k with a near luxury interior? All im saying is people was expecting more for less just like the people that wanted a turbocharged FR-S fully loaded for 23k.

I'm not knocking the lotus by any means, I love them, but they aren't stars of build quality either IMO. I wouldn't say that they are anywhere near as bad as Sub is making it out to be. Also, I just sat in a few 2013 GCs. The interior is shit IMO. Rye did too (rye: stupid popup blocker on my work laptop and ipad. never noticed the PM )

I have sat in all sports coupes at auto shows and I will say this much. The miata,rx8,GC,350Z,Detroit Muscle cars,RSX,celica,Tc,and the list goes on. Every one of these cars have terrible hard plastics and every one of them starts in the 20k range but I still like the plastics. The FR-S will be no different.

![]() Hard plastics can be OK, it depends how they're used. I don't want the car to start rattling after a mere 10000 km... Now, I wonder if I'll be able to find a GC around here, for a test drive (and a good look at it's interior) ![]() Dave-ROR, the car is improving itself, becoming lighter and lighter!

Well rattles will more than likely happen in a FRS but I could care less as long as it doesnt fall apart. Cheap sports cars and some premium ones rattle too.

Exactly Right. 100% Agree. All cars under $30k now-a-days use the same plastic parts. Heck, even $100k+ cars can look cheap. Anybody knocking on the GC's interior is just silly. It looks pretty nice compared to a lot of cars out there. And for the PRICE... it's just awesome. It's just the same people who don't like the exterior. They're trying to come up with reasons to make the FR-S sound like the better choice. Remember, the rule of thumb is: Cheap is okay, as long as it's $Cheap. The FR-S interior in no way looks any better than the GC coupe at all. I've been a Toyota fan for years. Owned Celicas, MR2s, Supras for quite a while. Now that Toyota/Scion is coming out with the FR-S, you would think a guy like me would go for it. And I might, but man... the new GC rocks. |

Is GC any bigger and heavier than G37 or 335 coupe?
Currently what other 2dr 4seater RWD coupe are there? GC could be an economical alternative for those cars. I don't think hyundai intended it to be a competitor for Elise or Miata. |

miata, that's my whole point. I want a small & light FR coupe/hatch. Personally I don't care if it's 2 seats or 4. The thread title is "FR-S/BRZ vs. Genesis Coupe". The FR-S is closer to the right size, and the GC is too big. That makes the GC irrelevant for my purchasing decision. It's not about hating the GC [which is a perfectly good answer to an affordable big GT], it's just not the right car for my preferences.

For some people the first question will be the deciding question, do I want a BIG sports car or a SMALL sports car. IMO, other than being FR coupes around the same price point, these cars are in different classes. It's like comparing a middleweight to a lightweight in MMA, pretty silly, because they wont fight until someone gains or drops ~20% weight. |
