Thank you, that makes it perfectly clear.

Are you new to the AVO kit? Did you have any fit and finish issues with the kit as described by other owners earlier in this thread? I've read several accounts of the AVO kit having boost leaks out of the box because certain fasteners were not tightened on the turbo and manifold assembly, or because the flanges on the exhaust manifold were not flat.

I'm interested in the AVO kit, but have a few concerns.

Pretty much all the connections on the turbo/manifold assembly were loose. Definently go through everything first. I used hair spray on all of my intercooler/intake connections before clamping them down. Acts as a mild adhesive when it dries up. Other than that, kit went in in 5 hours by myself and a friend to lend a hand

Looks nice. Hows it drive? Torque hit looks pretty quick, just wondering how smooth the acceleration is.

Feels more like a bigger motor than a boosted 4 cylinder. Power actually feels pretty linear. I'm also comparing this to my 400+hp gti 6 cylinder with a 58mm turbo, which is wait for it, wait for it, oh damn now we are movin haha

Cool cool. I'm coming from a 475whp FSI gti. Definitely looking for a different experience here with the brz. Still saving my pennies but I think this will be the kit I go with.

Threw together a short video showing off the sounds my car makes. Also have a few pulls in there but nothing looks fast on iPhone video. The sound quality is mediocre but should still show off the boxer rumble we all wanted out of this kit.

Hot damn that's looking good man. Thanks for jumping ahead with PTuning and showing me what I could do if I bothered to just pay for some damn injectors....

DSC_0860

sadly the only shot i grabbed of @AVOturboworld ( Paul's car ) sorry for not taking more pics and cutting our convo short Paul as i wasn't feeling well and left the show real quick

this by far is the cleanest FI kit/ Setup, and if you are building a sleeper this is the way to go. Not even the SC kits that are supposed to be bolt on easily and look " STOCK" manage to do what this thing does . In addition this is my second encounter with the car, the previous one being over 4 months ago and i can assure you this car changed in many ways.

Minor update on my car:

I had been dealing with an issue where my BOV was leaking vacuum. @ptuning found the issue and after a small back and forth with @AVOturboworld and @Pure Automotive I now having a working BOV. Thanks for the help and excellent customer service all of you!

Here's a video of the latest dyno pull:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ye0avnLr6m4"]Toyota GT86 AVO Turbo Kit Stage 1 Dyno Pull - YouTube[/ame]

The car put down 255.89 WHP and 211.56 TQ on the dynojet which is just a little more than what it did on the Dyno Dynamics at PTuning. The weather was sublime so I don't know why it didn't read much higher, but I guess that just shows that dynojet can read pretty accurately as well. I expected the minor gains because we fixed a small exhaust leak from the header flanges.

This is all just on a 93 Octane tune for the Stage 1 kit with my exhaust mods and a K&N filter. You can check out my build thread from the OP for specifics.

I have the 50/50 yes. @ptuning could chime in on the technical details if he wants, I don't know if I ever fully understood the problem. The BOV has a vacuum line going to the brake booster, and it was leaking vacuum such that instead of what it should be reading (20 pounds?) it was more like 7. I think I have those numbers right.

Basically I was told it would have no effect on the performance of the car but it would make it such that I could never get WMI, a boost gauge, or basically anything that ever needs to read vacuum and hence boost levels.

All that is in the past now! Hopefully when they get my BOV back they will be able to see what went wrong and prevent others from having that issue.

As for the exhaust leak I'm sure plenty of you guys know about that one...

We want to say thank you to Paul @AVOturboworld for a great weekend at Subifest. We have been working with Paul and AVO on our time attack FRS and in our first test run at the 86 fest we set the fast lap in super mod class. We were running against a SC car which has had several track days. Even at our 5 psi we turned heads. So when Paul asked if we wanted to come to Subifest we were not going to say no. we are making some simple modifications to our car and had the motor out, which we brought to Subifest for display. It was great to see the reaction from people as the compared the car and motor (with kit) at the same time. Most people could not believe the car was turboed but after looking at the motor they started seeing how and here the kit placed. We will post some pics shortly.
