I'm still hoping that the 2012 year car means that it will be released sometime mid 2011 xD

2012 is not too long of a wait. I don't understand how people can complain it's too long. I've been waiting for a nice, new RWD Toyota ever since Toyota killed off the MR2 (MKII, not the MKIII) and the Supra.

I've been hoping Toyota would release another sporty, exotic looking RWD for a decade +. Two years is nothing compared to that. Now, if they only offer a a turbo option on the FT-86...I'll be in heaven

Around '98-ish? or in JP '02 (Supra MKIV last production there was '02) for Supra and '99-ish for MR2? That's bout 10~12 yrs? wow that's long time. Just like me waiting for Impreza coupe to come out again.

Yeah, but see the difference is that before your waiting for something that hasn't been made/no real plans for.
Whereas this wait, we have the concept car, we know (tentatively) what it will look like, a general idea on specs and how they are trying to make it (referring to small light weight, low cost, low CoG, rear wheel drive), but they not going to release it for a couple years.
So its like they dangling candy in front of us, we can see it, smell it, touch it but can't taste it.

That's how I see it and why everyone keeps saying they can't wait.

Yeah... that's gonna be awhile. A lot of ppl thought it's gonna be like GT-R, but I don't think Toyota gonna bring back the Supra for LONG TIME... It's kinda hard to beat the last gen Supra. Their looks & performance is hard to beat. Even current sports car still get beaten by Supra and the races.

I think If Toyota makes a new Supra, it will be more exotic than the last one. Skyline has been an exotic beater for awhile now, so Supra should be one too. Opp off topic,, ding ding.. back to topic.

I don't get that he dismissed the MR2-spyder, yet is all in for the FT-86. Both share a lot character traits.... small, light, back to basics, lots of driving feel and handling performance. Pity the MR was a bit underpowered.

Word. A new supra MKIV would cost ~$70k in Today's money. I think we'd see a volta, mr2 hybrid or ft-hs long before we see a supra (though it could be argues that the LFA is today's "supra")

In my opinion, LFA is Lexus Supra. However, FT-HS concept was rumored to be the next gen Supra.

Well eckoman_pdx said not MKIII, so I didn't count the MR-S. Agree that MR-S is fairly small, light weight, NA, fun to drive (depends on the season) car. Not sure bout underpowered part cuz I've never driven stock MR-S.

All depends on price tag for me... but if Toyota did announce remake of Supra, I have the feelin' that I'll still buy FT86.

I think it will end up being a supercar killer, which has the same price tag as GT-R.
