the street guys.... the street....

Hahaha seriously, i remeber back in 05, when i just started drifting, and i was going to some local drift event, and was saying to my self, i need to practice in the street before coming on the track so i don't look like a complete douch... we'll that cost me a Advan Wheel on my R32, so never went in the street again!

Had a close friend who had over 6 years of experience slide on the street, tie rod busted and sent him straight into a pole. Hit at the door. Numerous hip surgeries later and a couple years down the road....

I don't like street drifting at all.
We had a spot in AZ that the owner let us mess around on. Huge open lot. I'm cool with that-on private property, when you have permission. Don't care to mess around public streets though.

Just not worth the risk.

I haven't snapped one in this car but in previous cars there was really no warning. They just let go.

Has anyone broken anything on the FR-S/BRZ from drifting thus far? Just need to know what to look out for.

So, a set of DSS axles should fix that issue.

Yep, axles are the first to go if the car is heavily lowered.

I have the DSS 600 axles. See my build thread.

I don't do "slam". I enjoy a race stance.

Does anyone else run bolt on spacers when drifting?

I personally run a 20mm on the rear and a 25mm on the front. Both are bolt on and hub centric.

Just wanted to know how bad this really is?

I know I should just order custom wheels in the correct offset but then I figure it would be better converting the car to 5x114.3 with new hubs which are around $1000. Then you can get access to a HUGE variety of dope wheels, from pretty much any S chassis car all with proper offsets. Plus a huge market of used wheels.

But anyway... Drifting on spacers... Bad idea?

I cant speak exactly to drifting but I have seen bolt on spacers on many track cars. I have run them myself on other cars with no issue. Most issues I have seen with spacer related problems came down to operator error.

Noob question - will clutch kicking screw up the clutch?

On the upside I figured out how to do it properly and consistently the other day and it felt damn good. Just worried about what I might be destroying, apart from tires.

I run them, of course Part Shop max spacers.... but I had the same worry but at every FD event I go to I see them on all the big team cars. I havent seen issues with mine and mine aren't hub centric to the wheel; which in my case will put stress on the lug holes but hey thats why I got cheap xxr's so i dgaf about it. Yea, they are another point of stress and possible point of fail but its an under powered car and it light so I am not too worried yet. Side note I ran the same spacers on a 4'000lb azera with 20's and no issues for 50k miles. Pic is related
