So you have a loud exhaust system?

So im noticing a recurring pattern with my everyday driving. I have a fairly loud exhaust setup, I love it, and I know a lot of other car buffs, frs/brz owners love it as well. BUT I know most people probably aren't too fond of having their eardrums blown out as I pass them at 7200 rpm. So I do my best to keep it locked down. Especially in neighborhoods, by schools, stuff like that. Not cool to run into someone backing out or hit a dog or a little kid or something. Areas I do downshift and rev I have to admit, parking garages and tunnels. But the point of this post is why the hell does everyone get mad at me when im casually driving? Its like because I have exhaust if im not going way above the speed limit people deliberately pass me in disgust. "Its like wow this guy in front me of is going the speed limit in that car? wow he must be drunk or high". No way im the only who gets this right? Its not even a come race me bro its just like if im not speeding or driving aggresively people get agitated. Does anyone know what im talking about lol?? If you have no idea what im talking about im sorry but,
"With great exhaust comes great responsibility."

I think a lot of people just find it tasteless and/or tacky. I don't acknowledge these type of cars or people, I'm just glad I'm not one of them.

If I cared about what other people thought of my car I wouldn't have bought a toyota.

That being said when I buy an exhaust I'm getting a resonated cat back. I like a but of growl but I don't want a full on fart cannon.

It's basically the same thing as people that thump their stereo crazy loud with the windows down. Since it's way above standard listening levels the default assumption (and sometimes legitimate) is that the person is all LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME IM A BADASS! An extremely loud "fart can" can give the same impression. Many ricers use them solely for attention. Sadly you will be lumped in with that crowd regardless.

This, It's the daily struggle. I had somebody yell at me when I left my girlfriends house a while back going 10 mph.

Also had somebody drive to my house pissed off because I was 'racing' down my street. Yeah, rolling down my hill in neutral at 25, totally racing!

I also had somebody and their son drive to my house complaining that I'd just sped past their house doing 65. I'd been detailing my car for the past 2 hours, it wasn't even warm. Then he went on to say that he was sure its me because it was the same type of car. I proceed to ask 'what kind of car is it then?' And he replies 'Nissan 350Z!'

It amazes me how ignorant some people can be. They see a red sports car and immediately assume its a race car

I don't get how people would assume you are drunk or high because you have a loud car haha..

I am curious, I want a very loud exhaust setup for my car. What is you setup?
