Got an opinion on these 2 tires?

Will be getting an FR-S soon and swapping out wheels and tires to 18's. These 2 tires are similarly priced, but which one (of these 2) would you recommend for a daily driver that will never see the track.

Hankook Ventus V-12
Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position

I'm running the V-12's on my Celica now and they seem ok, but just ok. Nothing special, but not bad. I've had worse. The price was right on them and they look good. I've had Potenzas before, but it's been years ago. My Celica has 250,000 miles on it, so I've run a little of everything in that time, and I put alot of miles on my car. Anybody with any experience lately with the S-04's?

Trying to line up some things so when the car comes in I'll be ready to roll. Thanks for opinions, we've all got 'em!

I ran Hankook Ventus V12's on my previous car. My opinion, great bang for the buck tire.

However, after running a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports, I won't ever buy another tire.

Shell out the extra cash for the PSS', you won't be disappointed. Not to mention, they will last longer than the Hankooks will while providing much better wet and dry performance.

You might also want to look into the continental extremecontact DW. Good bang/buck tire as well.

Next set I will try the PSS based on reviews. I have the Continental ExtremeContact DW and I do not like them. Grip is great, rain performance is great, quiet noise - but the feel is lacking soooo much, it makes me sad because this car used to feel so connected. Now it feels mushy.

Get something with a nice and stiff sidewall.

No opinions on the Potenza S04s? They seem to get good reviews on tirerack. I just don't know that PSS are in my budget every time I need tires....

+2 on PSS - they are f**king excellent. Steering is nice and heavy but communicative, turn in is rediculous and the ride/noise is surprisingly comfy. Can't comment on the full grip & overall performance as they have yet to be fully broken in, but so far it's been the highlight of the mods done to the car. Tires are your only contact with the ground so it pays not to cheap out on them.

Back on topic though, the S04 pole is 2nd to PSS so I'd probably go S04 over the V12. Check out tireracks test results and consumer survey feedback, S04 is 2nd position in both:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=162

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP

For less than $200 though (235/45/17) you can get the PSS so I'd still recommend going for the best. You'll never look back

I can't comment on the V-12's as I've never ran a set, although I keep hearing great stuff about Hankook tires from all sorts of people. From weekend racers to trackers. So take that with a grain of salt, but I did run a set of S04's before and IMO, they're great tires. Nothing like the PSS's, but awfully close. The Bridgestones tend to have a stiff sidewall and are quite noisy, but are solid tires.

I'll side with a few of the other guys here and say that unless all you do is hwy cruising a majority of the time, spend the extra money and get the better tire. It'll pay off when you're in the canyons or at the tracks.

S-04's are pretty decent but i would go with everybody else here and say that PSS are about the best tire you can buy. i would pay the extra it's worth it.
